That could be a fun guitar when it's fixed!
Evidently my next one's finally going to be the JBPB. My Sweetwater rep called again today and said their merchandise manager leaned on Epi to release their full allotment instead of 1 or 2 at a time. Epi promised enough to fill the outstanding orders and then some within 30 days. I'm #20 on the list, so I'm guessing probably 50 units.
Dang, Brian... Seems like you been waiting forever for your JBLP. I can tell you this though... Well worth the wait. Mine is the best one I have right now, including the Gibson Sig T. I did have to replace the crappy strings and polish the frets but everything else is perfect. Hope you get yours pretty soon.
Thanks Brian, I hope so too, it needs to have something about it to make me interested as I have no real desire to play electric but am interested to see if we can get it back up and running and if we can get it playable and add a few 'tweaks' for free (Have access to some used spare parts) whilst at it and am a firm believer that you don't need to spend loads to get a good sound and a perfectly good playable guitar no matter what name on the headstock and if we can save a guitar from the bin, as that's where it was headed, then worth a little effort.
Oh forgot to mention, when I said above that the fretboard is away from the neck, I mean the whole fretboard came off the guitar with headstock still attached!
It will be a very expensive DIY Telecaster kit from Thomann. More than 60€, almost 70€, do you realize ? It has been shipped today....currently on delivery, so probably middle of next week.
The goal is double : experiment as much as I want with it and leave it at the music room near my office so I can play during lunch breaks. I would not leave my T+ or my Fender there since I would be devasted if it was stolen. But since the Telecaster will be done by myself, maybe I'll be sad too if one day she dissapears.
I'll leave a microcube (unused at home) there too.
I don't mind the wait, since I already have 2 guitars that I really love. I'm glad they processed the sale while the 36 month financing was available. Works out to $19.68 a month!
The fun has started anyway....found some Grover Tuners but chrome ones and thought Tulip would be nicer so more digging needed in the parts bin but if not, they (Chrome) will do and found 2 Epiphone Humbuckers but yet to find out what they are off and left the camera in the shop....
....but a Gibson Dark Fire in the shop and like the all black trim look so might go for that....
Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro Honey Burst. Should be here Wednesday.
I just got an email saying it is on the way.
You're gonna love it!
Leon, you're lucky that you have access to all those guitars and parts. And you're daughter's lucky to be able to apprentice in a music shop. I worked in one and managed another back in the '70s, and I was amazed that I was actually getting paid to play in a grown-up toy store! Of course, my GAS was such that I was paying THEM to work there!
Nice color, I like it.
Now I know how you felt Brian, we are extremely lucky but on the other hand glad we don't have much 'extra' cash for guitars as I'd be in the doghouse permanently, some of the 'deals' I could pick up....Sheraton £200, Squier Pro Tone Tele £150
Epi SG, as new £120....just to name a few, even though I'm left handed and they'd be useless to me, they are just calling out to be taken home.... and on top of that the shop has a few very good Professional Guitarists who visit the shop too add to the drool, it is surreal sometimes.
So we are going to try and fix the broken one and if it is fixed and I don't like it or don't get on with an electric we'll probably give it away to one of the kids who come in and just like looking as they have no money.
Just to complete my original post, pics of Headstock Break:
Man look at that black fretboard!
*cough* don't forget..
Bell Hat Knobs Gold with Silver Reflector Import Set of 4
Metric M8 90 Degree Knob Position Indicator Nickel
Just be super careful pulling the old plastic knobs off (if you actually do), since that model has push/pull pots for the coil splitting.
just hear me out,...........
forgive the crude visualization, but...
same guitar blacked out!
Yikes! At least it looks like it should go back together without too much trouble.
Gonna be blacking out this:
with black tuners, black tailpiece and bridge.
Just got one of these for Christmas
Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar | Musician's Friend
In black. I freaking love this thing! Great tone, ergonomics, and build quality. Versatile as hell too, with Tele, Strat, AND humbucker pups
