I traded the grail though, not the gold.
I'm really GISing (Gear Inadequacy Syndrome) from this thread...
Currently use a Line 6 Flextone III XL. In the process of selling some instruments to fund a Mesa, either a TA-30 combo or Lonestar Special.
Line6 Spider Valve MkII head mainly... VERY loud.
About to pull the trigger on a Peavey 6505
Krank Chadwick Series One. Like the best JCM 800 I ever played.
I'm using a very modded Marshall JVM410h - one channel's based on a near Plexi clone, another on a JCM800 near clone and the other two are essentially stock with the exception of a power amp mod and choke. That goes through a Marshall 1960a cabinet with greenbacks (6402 cones). I also pulled two tubes to run it at 50W...
I use that in stereo with an unmodified Peavey Windsor and JSX cab loaded with four different speakers (three WGS, one Celestion), running just the Peavey power amp slaved from the Marshall preamp out.
I also have an old solid-state Fender Pro 185 (150W) from the '80s that I drive with a Tech 21 Blonde, using the amp as essentially a clean "voice" for the Blonde.
And a small Ibanez Tone Blaster practice amp (TB15R) for around the house when I don't need that kind of power.
Ahh, I really miss my old 5150! Such angry sounding amps!! Can't beat them for Teh Heavy! I used to play one through a G-Flex cab when I was playing angrier stuff.
