....I just dropped off the 54 Goldtop to Matt of 30th Street Guitars for a much needed refret.

    Separation anxiety in full tilt.

I'm not far behind you with mine. Been putting it off for as long as I've had it. What fret wire are you going with?

Make sure he takes some high res pics before & after so we can see the differences.

Also, are you going Nibs or no Nibs? I'd go no Nibs but it isn't my '54.

    Good luck J.

    Cheers, Rudi

No nibs, the originals are almost non existent anyways.

Unfortunately that Palm Pedal is for flat tops....

Just take a hot iron to burn it flat .That's what Les would have done. See if you can give the vintage guitar police a coronary.

I will be picking up a 1952 Goldtop on Wednesday. I can get around on the frets but was wondering how much a refret would run. I never have kept a guitar long enough to need one! LOL!

You'll love the guitar that much more when it's done. I had a Norlin LP Deluxe refretted with jumbo frets and it breathed new life into it. And from what I've seen, Matt Brewster does a really nice job with fretwork. Let us know how it turns out.

Did you ask him to try to save the nibs or did you just not worry about it?

Most of the nibs were almost gone, so we just did away with em.

I'm diggn the 100/50 frets, its like playing on glass.

That's sort of what I'm thinking for mine. The nibs are barely still there. Now I'm getting the itch.

I actually kind of like the small original ones. Maybe similar width, but just a little taller? I've got to do some homework before I take the plunge.
