LT that is & EV speaker. Been planning a modeling rig for awhile. Pretty confident I made the right choice for me w/ the Helix. I've read mostly good thing about the EV so I figure gotta start somewhere. Still honeymooning w/ the Katana so these should keep me occupied for a while. Now I can focus on just buying guitars.

Congrats, it's going to be a whole new world. I like my Katana, but the Helix has endless options.

Everything I've been reading, including your posts, are part of what swayed me to the EV as opposed to getting something more expensive... at least for now. ;)

I have ZLX12 I use with my AX8 and it sounds awesome. A great speaker for the money.

After you soldier through day one and learn your way around, the honeymoon never ends.

Congrats! You are going to have some fun!

I was watching a tutorial on how easy it is to build presets on the Helix. It sounded great, too. :thumb:

Thanks to everyone. Yeah I think I've watched every vid out there. It felt like I've had the thing for a while as soon as I turned it on. :) All I've done so far is fool around w/ the stock presets for about an hour.

To the EV users, what mode do you use on the speaker? Music, live? Any EQ adjustment or dB +/-? Or just everything at zero & let the Helix do the work? How do you have the line level set? The only thing I did was set to monitor. And put it on it's side as recommended in other threads.

Vortex do you know what the crossover frequency is for the EV? I can't find it on EV'S website

For the ZLX-12 the manual reads 2.1kHz. That stuff is above my pay grade but I hope it helps.

Generally speaking the higher the crossover frequency the more frequencies of your guitar the big driver is supplying. Another factor is the ratio of power between the high and low drivers, it takes more power to move a heavy speaker than vibrate a small HF driver that I like to see a minimum of 2 times the wattage assigned to the low end.

I use the Live mode and whatever placement mode I'm using the speaker in (i.e. Pole when its on a pole, monitor when its on the floor).

I run the EQ flat and use the mixer for vocal eq/effects and my POD for guitar EQ/effects.

I use my ZLX in Live mode with the location being set to Monitor. I've read on the Fractal Audio forum that Bracket will give you the flattest response, but I've not tried that as of yet.
