I had a Marshall DSL 40C that never hit my sweet spot, with or without the C-19 mod. She was a wonderful amp, but just not a wonderful amp for me. Today, I took her in and traded her for a new Vox VT40X. I had enough money on the trade to get the amp, a 5 button foot switch (on order), some warranties on the amp and switch, a $20 dollar gift card, and $6 cash. Sweet. I played around with the amp for a good 45 minutes in the store, and have a lot to figure out about it's capabilities. It certainly has a range of sounds, from dark and muddy to bright, so I'm sure I'll be able to leverage a lot of good noises out of it. I went with the Vox over a Fender Mustang because I already have a beastly huge Fender Deville (that I got used for $345...) that blasts the paint off the walls. More to follow as I play around with it. Gonna crack a bottle of red and read the manual.
