I've seen 50 somethings at guitar shows (some were dealers) wearing jeans and pink floyd t shirts. You're never too old. :thumb:

Just bumping this thread in case anyone else is going. I'm definitely going to be there. I'm gonna leave here at 6:30AM Saturday and it's about a 3 and a half hour drive. I'm going to be bringing two guitars with me in search of one great guitar or amp. I'm really wanting a 70s JMP Marshall head so we'll see if they have any.... Also eying 70s Tele Customs and SG Jrs. LP Jrs would be out of my price range.

Yeah, enjoy it to the fullest. Most of the really choice vintage and oddball guitars I've played over the years were at guitar shows.

The old LPs, of course, D'Angelicos, Mosrites, Bigsbys, and so on. As chill as both of you guys are, not to mention your skill as players...I'm sure you'll get your hands on pretty much whatever you want.

Don't be a dumbass like me. Get pics, so you can brag about it 20 years from now! :thumb:

    Thanks Mud!

I definitely will take pictures. Even if I don't come home with anything I can think of worse (a lot) ways to spend a Saturday!!!

Yes, but he has a gig out of state, and he won't be at the show.

while you are all looking for that guy with the bowler and vest on,

It was fun. Met a handful of MLP guys and saw some awesome guitars.

Played through a nice little Mesa combo.

    Played a 56 junior
    A 90 plaintop
    A re finished/converted 57 burst
And Dave's guitar shop, I think the same vendor that's here, had a nice gold tribute 60s with p90s that sounded and played really nice.

All in all a fun time. LOTS of guitars!

I'm very sad I didn't see Malikon (I looked for him). I got there right after 10AM and left by 1PM.

I looked for an old Marshall but no go.. Really want a MKII JMP so I'm still looking in the future.

I did trade two guitars and got a cool PRS with Braz Board and with P90s from Dave's Guitars.

Also picked up an old ZVex Super Hard On boost pedal.

Like I said I'm bummed I didn't meet anyone but we didn't stay very long. I am fighting the starts of allergies and asthma.

Hey Jim, That guitar was too cool!

Congrats on the guitar GG88. I was there around that time, sorry I missed ya. I was the obnoxious one that got told to turn down.

....I thought death metal through the Mesa was a nice change from all the Hendrix I was hearing. Hahaha

There was some cool stuff there. But it seemed like booths that had guitars I liked didn't have amps, and the ones that had amps didn't really have guitars I liked.

...Dave's guitar shop had both, however. Not surprised you found something nice there, the PRS corner I saw was pretty slamming looking.

....hope you got to try the 57. It was near the left corner as you walked in. Truly had that "fretless wonder" feel to it. Very small frets.

The 1990 plain top I think was my favorite, followed by the p90 goldtop that Dave had.

...the goldtop felt like it had a perfect setup. ...actually all the guitars I triedf of Daves were pretty nice.

One thing I noticed, many people had badly out of tune guitars for sale. At first I tuned a few but after doing it a few times at different booths I got tired of tuning guitars. And the rest of the day if I saw a cool guitar but it was out of tune I put it right down. I can't help but feel some vendors will lose sales because of this.

If they're not set up or they're out of tune,....who wants to buy it? You can't quickly try it out.

One guitar I picked up the bridge saddles made a straight line. Looked nice, but really...that's an intonation nightmare to try and demo...so I put it right back down.

I'd say it even seemed like maybe half the guitars I tried weren't setup to be played. ...how are they going to sell?

Still it was cool and a little overwhelming to be surrounded by what seemed like a couple thousand guitars!

    Yeah about ten years ago.

I really wanted to meet Jason from parts 7/8/9. ..Mr. Kane Hodder

..really nice guy. ...forearms like tree trunks!

Both times I met him he strangled me. Hahaha

Be warned if you ever ask to get a pic with him,...he'll choke you at the last second so you can say you were killed by Jason. Hahaha
