I had and still have a 2010 R0 plaintop. Thought it was everything I could possibly want in tone and playability. Then last week I bought a used 2010 R7. Love the neck and it does't seem as big as another R7 I played a couple of years ago. Its 8.5 lbs vs the 9.6 lbs of my R0 is very much welcomed. I had always thought my R0 resonance, sustain and tone was to die for! That is until my newly acquired R7. It sounds and plays so much better! Now when I play the R0 the neck doesn't feel great anymore and the tone seems lacking compared to the R7. Maybe I am still just on a honeymoon with the R7 but if things do not change my R0 may end up spending a lot of time in the case. :( Oh well I could always use an ES335. We shall see.

Dude, you just lowered the future selling price of your R0 by a grand.
    Not joking.

Condolences on the R0. Just kidding, I think it at least looks awesome.

Both are really nice LPs, but i wouldn't get rid of the R0, I'd get a R6, R8, And a R9, that is the only solution.:D

Well your R0 was a heavy one for sure and your R7 is at the average weight plus the neck sounds like it's at R9 size....that's a win win.....congrats:applause:
If you continue down the same track as I did you'll eventually end up with fat necked LPs.

Congrats! Really nice lesters you got there.

IMHO neck size has a great influence in the overall tone of the guitar. It was my experience in a lot of years of playing.

I had a '14 R7 that may have had the best tone of any guitar I've owned. I just couldn't get with the neck but man sounded good. The next owner agreed on the tone whole heartedly.

    Nice Goldie!!
I don't get the , neck is too fat, & neck is too skinny thing though.
If a guitar sounds great, I'd play it whether it had a toothpick or a 2x4 for a neck.

I have a 13 R7 that is about the same weight, the neck was more 59 than my R8. I kept seeing odd lines on the top in the right light.... Well it turned out to have this.... IMG_20161217_164319.jpg

Nice guitars. Serious first world problem you have ;)

It's funny, back when I first started buying LP's (around 1985) GT's were not very well liked and normally priced around $100 less than every other LP. Actually my first LP was a 1974 Deluxe GT. Anyways I'm glad they are more liked now. Btw, proud owner of a 2004 R7 GT.
