here's another unsung, monster of a band..
their name sounding like/reminding one of "Urethra" does them no favors.
Uriah Heep sounds like, "Pile of Urine"....I think most would pass on that.
"Uriah Heep is a fictional character created by Charles Dickens in his novel David Copperfield. The character is notable for his cloying humility, obsequiousness, and insincerity, making frequent references to his own "'umbleness". His name has become synonymous with being a sycophant. He is one of the main antagonists of the book."
Dude! Their early records were the shit!
I'm just saying someone who's never heard of them,..their name sounds like Urine Heap. *shrug* It doesn't invite you to click on it and listen if you're not already aware of them.
Mal, click on the above, after all it is about a Spider Woman.....
Wow, Uriah Heep... haven't even thought of them for years...
I listened to them a lot between the ages of about thirteen and maybe sixteen years old. They were one of the earlier "heavy" bands, and came to be very popular at about the same time as Black Sabbath, Grand Funk, Zep, and Deep Purple. They were one of the "2nd generation" of hard rockers, who came along after the really early ones like Iron Butterfly, Blue Cheer, Vanilla Fudge, Cream, Steppenwolf, and so on.
In concert they were REALLY LOUD. I went to see them open for Steppenwolf, and man... I was surprised that the plaster didn't peel off the walls of the auditorium they were playing in. A real ear-ringing kind of concert, it was... minchia, we were idiots back then...
Great band for their time. They're kind of like Black Sabbath in that I don't actually listen to them today-- and haven't for a very long time. But I remember when the "Demons and Wizards" album came out... we listened to that one for days on end. It was pot party music...
Mick Box was an unsung guitar hero!
First Live Show I ever saw...1973 and I was 13...Rare Earth, Uriah Heep, Edgar Winter Group with Johnny and Rick Derringer!
What a show! I have loved the Heep ever since...
I bet if the band wasn't called Urine Heap he wouldn't have been unsung.
(I listened to a couple songs, they don't suck. )
Not a good name for a band though. I cannot possibly be the only person who's ever thought the band name sounds like Urine Heap.
One of my favorites back in the day. Wizard and Stealin were played a lot
They were big during my early college years. Couldn't walk through a dorm without hearing Uriah Heep, Foghat, Savoy Brown, etc.
Roberteaux is to be seen and not heard.
Such an awesome band. Listening to Magicians Birthday on vinyl just a few days ago.
Yep, great band with good catalogue of tunes....
