You and I always seem to have the exact same taste in gear which always makes me trust the hell out of your advice so Ill keep it as MIJ as I possibly can.

    remember this?
seller says he's sure it's a 1980; pots and pickups date confirm this and logo and split diamonds are not valid indicators since Greco has mixed up everything through the years.. so he's not willing to lower the price and he's gonna trade it for a OBG
I'm gonna put my gas for a bb custom on temporary hold :)

Seller is 100% wrong, the Greco logo itself is enough to prove that. If it was a 1980 EG-500C it would probably be the same price anyway since the 1990 has the long tenon and arguably better pickups. The 1989-90s seem to be fairly common so no harm in letting it go IMO.

Hey Folks. Is there anywhere to pick up witch hats for my G

What about replacement witch hats for it. I ordered in some supposedly “Gibson Correct” witch hats and what they sent me was amp witch hats with vol/tone discs on it. Im pissed because this is TWICE 2 diff vendors have swore they were proper replacements and theyre not.

Greco single coil question - SE pickups with 31276 engraved:
    - These are PU-119?
    - Are these Maxon EXCEL as well, or was 'EXCEL' always engraved?

They are the excel pickups...and iirc they are also called pu-119. Very nice 50s style pickups either way!

Maybe the neck. I think all the 79 strats with small heads were Super Sounds so who knows really. The bridge saddles say "Greco" which is more of a Super Real thing. If you take off the neck you might see a number in a circle that will tell you more. In any case, congrats! (I love the Greco strats more than the Tokais).

I was thinking a 2 piece body too. @wulfman yeah it would be good to see under the hood. I have to get a Greco soon!

Hi folks, I'm reading through this thread, but still have a ways to go. A few posts up here I see a similar 1989 Custom like one I'm looking at. I found some information online that said when the rectangle is split in the diamond headstock inlay that means it's made in Korea, not Japan. Is this true? The guitar I'm looking at appears to be MIJ. It has a serial number and the ABR style bridge has small posts that go into the wood top.

I have no idea what model it is though and I'm not sure how to tell with a black guitar as it is hard to see how many pieces the back and top are. And another I looked it was painted black inside the pickup cavities as well. It does not have a heel cap though.
