Anyway if you played it and like it all good but with all the mods I'd pass.
You people (and Mr Wulf in particular) have a lot to answer for (not least my rapidly diminishing bank balance ) - first the Bacchus classic:
and now this, bought on Sunday night, whose arrival from Japan I am patiently awaiting. (Thank you CITES delay for so expertly demonstrating the concept of deferred gratification...):
Any opinions on what the neck pickup with its sticker trace might be?
1980 or 1990?
can you ID the model?
Could be an EGC-700.
So it was a mid-lower model?
Pancake or traditional solid body?
Sorry for the thousand questions, Always liked BB style guitars so I'd like to know a little more about this one
Maple cap, solid body (could be 2-3 pieces). Necks vary on those from my experience. I had a 1990 one like yours but in white that had a big fat neck.
NGD and need some help IDing the pickups.
Serial no and 1989 Greco catalog says this is a EG 59-70 made in 1990
According to the catalog, the pickups are "DRY". The plaintop EG 59-60 have "Screamin". Can anyone help to confirm this?
The screws on the pickup rings are so badly rusted i cant get them off without breaking the rings
the seller says the pickups are the original U1000s but the covers are missing.
spec-wise it looks interesting, I think I can live without the ebony neck (and with a maple cap).
looking at this from a 1989 catalogue it seems that the 700 was the 3 pickup version, so this could be the 600?
headstock inlay is different though..
anyway the seller (who thinks is 1980) wants a little too much money if you ask me, let's see if I can get a decent deal
1990 EGC-600 screamin pickups. Here is a similar ID thread
Well I have been eyeballing MIJ guitars for a long time and found one that felt right for me. I liked the price. Its already been refretted and had a pots and caps change. Its clean but dirty, just the perfect amount of wear. Its a 79 Greco but in all my scouring for my first MIJ LP I didnt retain much info so Im just looking for people who know more than I do what the model is and what makes this cool. Tell me about it!
The Tokai made 1990 EG-75 (flame top) has Double Trick pu's, right?. EG-70 was the plaintop.
Looks like it could be an EG-800-CB since the fretboard looks rosewood to me. If it's Ebony, that would indicate it's an EG-1000 B. Either way, I'm sure it's a fabulous guitar.
It is a rosewood board. Its pretty dark.
I looked up this catalog:
Anyway i managed to remove the screws on thr neck pickup and took the pickup cover off as well. Its an alnico mag and theres no marking or labels on the baseplate
I still dont know what it is lol. But i doesnt sound good to me. Too scooped and bassy.
As far as I have seen the Double Tricks disappeared from Greco LPs in the mid-80's. If they are Alnicos I'd say they are 99% Dry. They have a good reputation but maybe are an acquired taste.
Nice looking burst.
I had an '82..was pretty cool.
Mine had the Screamin' 82s..which to me was like a cross between a T Top and a Super Distortion.
Gotoh is your replacement hardware source if needed. (keep it MIJ!)
