Anyone know what this model was? Had the waffle back tuners, ebony board, 1982 Super Real/MC sold for 55K, looked to be one of the higher end models (EGC800+?) to me and a bargain at the price.

As above, a black EGC68-80, 18th one off the production line after mine :thumb: Frets look too fat to be a 58-100, and the price would be higher. Great price if it had no issues, I paid the same for mine locally a few years back.

EG58-100 would not have a volute...easy way to spot the 100 model.

Thanks, always good to have easy ways to distinguish between the two, pity as I quite like volutes though :)

But it might also be an EGC68-100 with dry pickups. With a volute :D

Here is the '77 Greco Jeff Beck I got a few months ago. It got beat up on the way from Japan - the fretboard popped up under the first few frets, an uncut string end got embedded right under the overlay at the front tip of the headstock (never seen that happen before) and the clear is starting to lift under the bottom strap peg. Maybe you saw it listed on Reverb a couple days ago, but I decided to stop being a baby and glued the fretboard down last night and then went through everything else on it and got it strung up today. I only broke 2 screw heads off, so all in all it went smoothly. It's not bad, but I still need to dial it in and intonate it.

I cleaned the pots but whatever I did caused the volumes to completely lock up. But they needed replaced anyway, so no big deal.

My question is what vol and tone pots and 3 way switch do I need to buy for it that won't require widening any holes? Looking for something on the cheaper side, no fancy stuff required.

    Hello everone!

This Greco showed up on a local sales page for roughly 300$.(I'm from Sweden and that's dirt cheap by our standards!)

However the old man that had it was a "guitar tinkerer".
And wanted to paint the back of the neck, because it had dings, and painted over the serial number or maybe it didn't have any? And yes it needs to be sanded away asap.
Further more he has changed knobs and pots to CTS with orange drops.
One good thing though is that he had recently left it to a professional here in town for a refret with jumbos.

Anyway judging by the routing for the neck pickup it seems to be a Tokai made Greco. It's stamped with EG-90 and S-72. Does anybody know what model this is?

It has pretty nice figuring on the maple top. And plays good! :thumb:

Something aint right. Why has it got a dodgy looking custom headstock on a standard?
Body looks like tokai but looks to have bridge post bushings.

After posting the previous reply i've gone through the guitar more.
I can clearly see that a "head plate veneer" has been added but no evidence of neck change.
So i called the seller up and he told me that he added the head plate.
He did this because the head stock had been repaired some time ago, he thought that it would look nicer with a new head plate.
So that expains why it has a "custom" appearance.
In hind sight i'm pretty sure he was talking something about a head plate when i met him. But i thought that he was talking about the bell plate. :p

Does this mean that it's a Tokai made EG-500 or something of the like?

    Do you need more pictures?

Hard one because this is most likely takai made 1989-90 eg.
    But eg90?
Never heard of them but maybe someone has.
Think there was a EG900D custom in 89 90 but not a standard.
