I have a digital box with lots of tones in it and I only use two. And I use one of them 95% of the time. :dunno:

I am only using one or two of my own presets on my Amplifire as well, but I don't need nor use multi-tap delays, reverse hall reverbs, 4 kinds of fuzzboxes and all kinds of other electronic duct tape. They are nice gadgets if you are into that, but not my style. I am finding the AF a killer headphone amp and extremely useful practice tool. I am sure I could get some useful recorded tones out of it too. But live, the tones have a ways to go before I sell off my vintage amps.

Dude, some "dude" are missing here!! What the dude...:)

You may use 1 or 2 sounds, but in 6 months from now ypu my want to use another one, totally different, and that does not imply buying a new amp when you have a decent modeler.

More like 6 minutes for me.. hahahahah :thumb: It keeps me playing countless hours longer. For that alone it has been incredibly worth having the options.

one question for the dudes ;)

What do you use to "render" your sound when you use pods or racks like the AxeFX, Helix an so on? Active monitors? Via a computer + active monitors ? Clean "regular" amp?

I own a G3X, even if it's not on par with a helix or an axe fx, it's not that bad but I'm not a big fan of headphones. I have a good set of studio headphones ( AKG pro 240 mk2) but after 30 minutes of gainy sound I want to stop.

    thanks, dudes !

I could grab just one monitor and pack up the top rack.. But for some places I still needed a very portable very low watt combo. So that is why Soul Tramp is building me a Tweed Champ. :thumb:

I will also add that if you knew what was contained in that Fractal you would certainly call it very portable.

I am an at home guy, strictly recording. I run my Axe into my protools rig, and then out to some active Yamaha HS5's. I use to run 8" monitors, but the room I am in has some issues, so I went down to 5" monitors, and in the small space I am in they are perfect.

Yeah I've seen that , congratz ! But I've also seen you like the code or ordered one, am I wrong ?

Like I said earlier (to you) somewhere on the forum, I have a colleague who's been playing for decades. He's recorded several full CD albums. He plays a very nice Musicman Steve Lukather limited edition or something like that, he won it at a impro contest.

Since a few years, he went the same way than you, only his axe FX. So I've tried both his Musicman guitar and his axe fx rig. Was amazed how deep down into details of configuration the Axe goes. Was less amazed by the Musicman, I mean it's a very good guitar, but after trying I did not feel I'd have to sell everything I own to buy one.

Wow, dude, I almost bought a HS5. 8 was a bit too big for me, and a bit expensive too.

Thanks, but not entirely true. I'd love to own one of Don's custom Soul Tramp amps, particularly like Malikon's. I could also see myself getting an old Traynor one day. The reasons I want these couldn't be satisfied with a rack unit and a setting.

Well that explains why you keep saying you miss the Amp In The Room experience. Play that AXE in a 2 12 FRFRS and let me know what you think. :thumb::wow:

Yeah they are great little monitors. They translate pretty well, and the 5" fits the room I am in very well.

Yes, I have posted that video a few times now. It's amazing to hear guys proclaim that the HD500 Line 6 product sucks yet guys like Steve Howe uses it in Million Dollar tours.

Another interesting point in the video is Steve's talk about the Variax.

Exactly. Hearing his contained excitement was a real eye opener for me.

I've been eyeing the Marshall Core, but ya know, that Rivera Super Champ has dominated my playing time since it arrived!
