    Don't trade. They don't make 'em like they used to. You are going to trade down. That 2008 looks more like a Traditional with the speed knobs and Klusons.

    Well, I think all the 08 Std+ guitars came with locking tuners and top hats. Mine doesnt have speed knobs, has grover locking tuners, stupid locking jack, and all the other stuff listed on gibbys website. Unless he's done.some changing to it. If you REALLY like it more than yours, go for it.
    I personally wouldn't, but I like old stuff. And I was born in 74, so I'm sure I could get my head to make that seem special to me.

    Yeah - the Standard does look pretty, blabla. . .

    BUT: You've got a stunning 74!!! --> DON'T TRADE!!!

    Maybe you want to try and put some aged pup-covers on just have a different impression of your guitar. . . other than that: keep your LP: she's amazing!

    No way I would make that trade. Your 74 is beautiful.

    We can't make the decision for you though. The 08 just might be "your" guitar

    Is there a reason you're considering trading your '74 in the first place? Both guitars are in the same neck of the woods value wise, so this decision is going to come down to weather or not you're happy with your current guitar. If yes, no trade. If not, trade away and don't look back. Best of luck.

    I could be wrong, but I think the early 2008 standards before the "08 standards" were chambered without all the locking bling if that makes sense. If that isn't chambered it's some sort of traditional.

    I don't think I would trade something out of production for something in production.

    I own a 2011 '08 Standard and it will be mine for many years to come. With that said, please hang on to your guitar!

    Well, if you're considering the trade there is probably a reason. If there is something about the 74 that's getting in the way of you really bonding with it, then why keep it? If you're doing it just because you're bored and you want to do new things, then I'd really try to talk you out of it.

    What pickups are in your 74? If they are early Dimarzios or even T-Tops or Shaws (depending when it was converted), I would insist on swapping the pickups.

    The serial number should have alerted you in the first instance. 358 is the last week of 2008, and if it was a Standard it would have had all the 2008 Standard appointments that others have mentioned, viz. Grover locking tuners, neutrik jack socket, locking bridge & tailpiece, asymetrical neck, NOT speed knobs, PCB in the control cavity and see-through cavity plate. As someone else has said, unless a lot has been swapped out, that would not be a 2008 Standard from the last week of the year.

    That is a two piece top on the deluxe too, isn't it? Never in a million years would I trade that deluxe.
