Which of these 4 guitars is closest to capturing "The" Les Paul tone?

(Please ignore any "cracking" which is the result of a crappy microphone on my camera.)

The guitars are an R8 with Vitamin Q's, a '69 Deluxe with P90's, an MIJ Epi Elitist with Vitamin Q's, and a bone stock Epiphone Custom - made in Korea. (Not necessarily in that order!)

All guitars are played through a Peavey Classic 30, through the neck pup, tone on 7, volume maxed.

YouTube - Listen: Gibson or Epiphone?

VOTE BEFORE YOU READ AHEAD! (although I haven't posted the answers as of "yet")

Bill - that is going to be the moral of this story, I think... they all DO sound great!

There isn't a heck of a lot of difference between an R8 and an Epi when it comes to a blind taste test!!! (I'm as surprised as anyone!)

The playing experience doesn't quite compare, but the sound coming out of the box is pretty darn close! The '69 is the most fun to play. Any guesses on which one the '69 is?

Which of the 4 guitars do you guys suspect will be the winner?

I think #3 was the best sounding of the four. I have no idea which would be the 'Les Paul' tone as most les pauls I have ever heard were cranked out and distorted. I had no idea they sounded smooth and sweet - almost like my Hamer Studio.

    Don't forget to vote!!!

Take a quick listen to Sean Costello if you have time - his work was amazing (he died a few months ago at 28 years old). That is "the tone" in my eyes (well, ears!). My Pauls all come close (well, some closer than others!) when I've got the amp cranked up a little bit (and without the crappy still camera recording video!). Sean is playing a '54 Les Paul Goldtop here. What an amazing sound!

#3 is one of my favorites as well. (Hell, I love all of them!)

We'll see if you agree once I announce the true order they were played in!!!

I liked 4, although it wouldn't surprise me if you used the same guitar and just messed with the knobs, lol.

I truly thought of doing that - not that I ever would - but the thought did cross my mind!

I assure you, that the 4 guitars shown in the beginning were all played!
