Ever experience this ? Where your tone sounds exactly the way you like it and after playing it puts you in a good mood for a couple of hours after?

The best buzz I’ve ever had.

I think your playing skill that day does that too... then somehow the tone follows. It's not so much the equipment but it matters too.

Every player is different and derive their inspiration from the musicality of the tone or the music itself. Some people walk by a construction site and hear a jack hammer others hear a backing track.

Yeah but the ones that hear the backing tracks are really hearing the way the Jack hammer operator is working the tool

Yeah, but I’m always chasing a better tone high than the last one.

I had a tone high after firing up my new high-gain project. I still get butterflies when I first fire up a new build.

Yes I just had one of those today. I cranked up my Avatar 45 (and it goes to 11). Feeling 45-50 watts of tube roar is an experience. I rarely ever turn it up that high but today it was just one of those days where it needed to happen.

I miss it so much. My beloved 2204, thousands of miles across the sea. Me stuck here with a fuckin Zoom G3Xn to pretend. It sucks, I tell ya. Their “MS-800” is a sick joke, to the initiated.
2204 noon tone. It’s heaven for me. It almost doesn’t even matter which guitar. They all sound different, but great.
There’s something about an open back combo with bouncing 12” speakers.

Ships Wifi is about as good as the MS-800.

I have good tone days and bad ones. I can play the same equipment with the same settings, and some days nothing sounds good. Other days it all sounds amazing and I am in a good mood for hours.

    Absolutely.

I have experienced it from varying sources, too.

Imho, I have found that weather will play a big role in how my sound/tone is on any particular day.

I usually get killer tone when it's hot and muggy outside. Cold dry days...shit tone/sound. YMMV, etc., etc.

That is interesting. My 1976 2204 usually sounds best after it has been on for several hours. I might light it up first thing in the morning for a play and by evening, it is just out of this world. It has always been this way, too, whether for all night parties, or late, long gigs.

Absolutely. Had one myself, 2 days in a row over the weekend. I play a lot of thrash metal, and I find if my body isn't up to it that day (believe it or not, playing very fast and tight requires a lot of warming up and a little bit of willpower) then I usually find my sound is uninspired as well.

Conversely, when I'm feeling good and playing well, my tone always seems to sound amazing. Being able to add volume really helps too, as there is nothing quite like feeling those quick downward palm mutes hit you in the chest in fast succession. I have about 14 different rigs at the moment, and on the good days, they ALL seem to sound great. Except the Mesa Dual Rectifier

Whenever I get the chance to crank up the Super Lead.

With the Fenders I have many more good than bad days, but not necessarily tone high all the time. I play the Fenders a lot, which is more about satisfaction with my playing. If I'm in a zone the amp tone usually follows.

There are times my tone is great and I get into the "zone" and playing with my spirit. Gives me a buzz the rest of the day.

It doesn't happen every time, but it's why I want to continue to play .
