    Oh my that was bad.

    BAAAAAD.

They always said that the show wasn't in front of the music, but nowadays, I think it clearly is because they can't bring it anymore.

Paul's voice has clearly become the weakest link in KISS.

At the show on July 31st, it was quite clear that he just can't sing the way he use to. What bothers me is why does he still try to hit the notes that he clearly no longer can. You would think that he would just adjust his singing as needed to help himself.

There was a time when Paul could really belt it out...but that time has gone. Sad, but true.

I'd heard tale of them playing a step down to accommodate his voice.

Maybe a step and a half?

I agree though...he really needs to sing the way he can, not try to sing the way he used to. The Final Four thing I thought was a mistake to release, but apparently, that's just how he sounds now.

    Like utter shyte.

Certainly, he's got to know his voice can't do what it has in the past. That being said, he still attempts to sing in the exact same style as he always has...in-between song banter & screaming...the whole deal.

It would just make sense to focus on what he can do, & eliminate what he no longer can.

I'd say that he currently handles about 40% of the vocals during a show well...& the other 60% he has great difficulties with.

They should put songs in the set that he can still sing well, & increase the Gene, Eric, & Tommy songs to give Paul a break.

Gene still does what he does very well, Eric handles his vocal duties quite nicely & Tommy does a decent job with Shock Me.

Ace and Peter should start their own Kiss "tribute band" and look for their own Demon and Star Child....:hmm:

So besides not hearing the vocals too well, I don't see what is so bad. I don't think he sounds that much different from other shows. I have quite a few bootlegs. I think people forget that we are not out in audience with the full mix. And other shows that I have seen might just be the sound board recording. I know if they try to replace Paul and or gene, my days of seeing kiss will be over. There are enough tribute bands.

My time as a KISS fan would end when Gene & Paul hang it up. I would still have a casual intrest in a newer version, but noting compared to what it's been since I became a KISS fan way back in the early 70's.

I've seen KISS live a ton over the last 35 years. The last two tours it's clear to anyone listening that Paul just can't sing in the same ballpark as to what he has in years past. The voice is a shell of it's former self & that's why for the life of me, I can't understand why he continues to sing in the exact same way that he always has.

He needs to modify his approach, let Gene carry more of the load, Eric & Tommy as well.

I didn't think that clip was awful either. It wasn't great, but it was far from awful.

My biggest problem with Kiss these days is their inability to move on stage. Compare video of the band from the mid 70s to what you see now. They used to have so much energy on stage. The way Gene sauntered about was animal like. Paul danced and skipped everywhere. And Ace, he had a very cool way of stumbling around. The band today just seems to shuffle around the stage. Gene doesn't even try to be a demon anymore, instead choosing to gyrate his pelvis in like some laughable, washed up porn star.

Sad to say, but the excitement is gone, and there are tons of bands out there that use just as much smoke, flames and bombs.

The clip wasn't awful, but it does tell the story of Paul's fading voice. There are plenty of examples from this tour alone to pretty much cement his vocal issues.

That being said, I'm a huge Paul Stanley. I just wish he would change up his routine a bit to focus more on the notes he can still hit, & less on the ones he can't.

The lack of energy is a legitimate gripe. Paul & Gene pushing 60+ still get it done, but as you say, nothing like in the 70's...but not much is still the same as it was 40 years ago.

I just saw them July 31st...they still give you more than anyone I can think of live today, & they are still a spectacle to see on the stage. I was as happy last month when the curtain dropped as I was in 1983 when I saw them for the 1st time. My Wife & I had a great time...as always.

I've never been to a KISS show that didn't impress...& that hasn't changed.

-95 when I saw them, the reunion was quite new and they gave good show. When I bought Sonic Boom,I thought something is wrong now,Paul´s voice was like he had flu or something in his throat. There is time for everything, maybe that´s the reason,I don´t keep my interest at Kiss records no more.

In the old days when he occasionally did that it was more funny than anything. He was in full monster mode and it kind of fit in with the image. Now he's a 60 year old guy and his only move is his crotch gyration. pretty pathetic. He is the one member that I thought didn't stay in shape. Although Pauls moves have slowed, probably due to his numerous hip replacements, he still obviously stays in shape and can move around the stage pretty well.

I saw a picture of a shirtless Paul recently...

And it lacked the umm...tightness of previous shirtless Paul...
