Seems Epiphone is making quicker progress with this compared to the Ace Frehley model. But really, Tommy Thayer??? Who's gonna buy this thing? Wouldn't a Tom Sholz goldtop have been a better idea?

[Phone call from Gene Simmons to Gibson]: "Hey listen, I've been getting nagged at around here that everyone who's ever been in KISS has some kind of signature instrument, and Thayer's just wondering where his is. Even Shannon's gotten all excited about this -- started giggling and said he should DEFINITELY have a signature instrument and that it should have a really long neck. I dunno. Okay, if not a Gibson, what other brands do you have? Epiphone? Sure, why not? I don't know what color; I've never looked over there to see what he plays. Maybe make it white and include a box of crayons or something. You can? Very cool. That'll make life around here a LOT easier. Thanks much!"

Id buy it, not for the name, but if it's got a good sound andthen features then definitely.
I like the looks and the sig models usually have a good spec.

I just sent a link about this guitar to my buddy and told him that if he bought me this guitar, I'd shoot him in the stomach.

    :)

I love Kiss. I love Ace more and I think this Tommy "The Spaceman" Thayer crap is some of the worst BS in the world.

When is Mike Ness going to get some love? I'd love to see a signature goldtop with P-90s.

Looks like a pretty nice Epiphone to me...no matter who's name is on it.

Shouldn't Tommy Thayer be playing an Ace Frehley Les Paul anyway?

I mean...he is a Kiss Tribute band player....

Also, fix the damned make up.

Get it right or don't even do it.

Don't these tribute models fair well for resell just for the simple fact they're tributes?

I've got no problems with Tommy Thayer. Ace quit the band and he had to be replaced. Ace also sold the rights to his character so he had to have some clue that someone would be replacing him. Tommy is doing a great job filling Ace's boots on stage every night. That said, up until a few days ago we had never heard a note that Tommy had actually written and played. I think giving him a tribute guitar cheapens the honour and makes a mockery of all those that had been honoured before him. Lets face it, until he gets some of his own material out there he is nothing more than a tribute band player that got lucky.

I'm not even a KISS fan, nor do I know much about the history, but due to the fact that he is in KISS will just about guarantee that a Tommy Thayer model will sell, even though some (or most) will agree that he hasn't earned a signature model. Just good business by Epiphone.

My issue is his being in Ace's makeup and character.

As Gene Simmons said in the unmasking on MTV, the characters are extensions of who we are inside.

    Tommy's not Ace.

    He shouldn't wear Ace.

I think that guitar looks good.

If it plays and sounds good as well, that's all that matters for me.

I think an ebony board, EMGs and not making it a signature would have been an improvement, though.

I agree, but Simmons' idea right now is to have Kiss continue long after he gives it up. He is grooming Tommy & Eric to take over and be the veterans when they look for a new demon and starchild.

    Oh I know.

There were rumblings of that by Doc McGee back in the late 90's.

As much as I love Kiss, I can't bring myself to buy a ticket for their upcoming show here in St. Louis...if my bud was still living in the Lou, we'd do it...but yeah.

I'd much rather see a Revenge Line up Reunion than this.

Black n Blue and Pretty Boy Floyd were two great hair bands from the 80's that he was in.
The guy will never be Ace but he is doing a great job filling his shoes.
