    Hi guys,
First foray into the world of Japanese guitars. Currently looking at this 135 and wondering if it's a good deal? I was told it's the prior version of the ES160 that Tokai currently makes. Any red flags that you guys can see?

I appreciate any experience/insight you all have

I had my eye on that one, as well, but am out of the market now. I'm no expert, but I don't see any red flags. Looks beautiful!

I see that someone just made an offer. If that wasn't you, you might want to speed up your research process if you're really into this one.

lol it was me. I just needed someone to push me over the edge. Everything I can tell this is a pretty ok deal on a guitar I've wanted for a long time

Well now it's a NGD. This thing is beautiful. Getting used to the large semi-hollow body compared to my Tele's and Strats. Only thing is it's technically a ES 125 not the 135 advertised. I can't tell if there's any difference.

Interesting. Do you plan to do anything about the 125 vs 135 discrepancy?

Regardless, I hope it plays as great as it looks!

I'm super happy with the guitar but I may mention the discrepancy to the seller and see what they say. Honestly it made zero difference to me and it appears that the 135 wasn't made in 03' so that's on me for not knowing that. Plus the price difference once they hit US shores is so minimal that it's not worth it.

This thing might be the nicest semi-hollow I've ever held. It plays great and sounds nice with the Burstbuckers in it (through an AC15). I've got to say that the hype for these Japanese guitars is well deserved. It really is a stunning instrument.
