As you can see, you'll get an avalanche of personal favorites. The underlying themes are valid, in my experience. Reverb (and delay) have gotten super trendy as units appear that allow multidimensional control of numerous parameters. But virtually all of them do qualify as gargantuan pains in the butt, as you have many knobs to twiddle, and/or multiple presents etc. I do not find that having to shift into "think" mode helps with musical creativity, and it takes a while to make these complicated units intuitive (because they're not), so, well, there's that. On the other hand, there are stalwarts like the Ibanez AD9 that are analog, have a distinctive, warm tone, and since they were good enough for David Gilmour, are obviously fine. I, too, wanted a non-busy unit and relied on my vintage AD9 for a long, long time. Then I decided to demo everything at my good local music store, and walked out with a Strymon unit not because I could then create 57,896 different effects -- though I can -- but because I was able to get a truly multidimensional, shimmering, articulae reverb that is just gorgeous. I hardly ever change any settings, and use it a lot like the good ol' AD9. But it sounds one whole level nearer to awesome. I think a lot of players have a similar experience. It's really a new world and Golden Age for reverb. An old spring tank? Nah.

The shimmer from the bigsky or bluesky is something special.

It really is a design icon. Just beautiful to look at let alone play through. It's one of the few Strymon units where you can easily read the text labels too!
