Because the cavity is not only finished inside but also shielded overtop of the cherry finish.
    Not a Kasuga trait.

This is my 81, the same (finished in the cavity with shielding paint over top):

However that one above does have the larger cover shelf on it similar to Kasuga's.

Don't forget, in 1980/81 ESP offered build your own order made models so this very well could be one of those with left over pots.

    I'll stick with 1978.:D

My old Kasuga Nav finished and shielded in the control cav.

    Thanks Udo.

So, someone may have ordered it with the larger cavity plate/rout? Or perhaps it was leftover stock. I have seen similar with some of my Fernandes revival strat types from the early 80's. One had a factory supplied 64 pickguard even though it was a 57 model. Same guitar also had the type of truss rod from the pre revival strats (hex type instead of the screw type.

Also is your a one piece body? Mine looks two piece but will know when I receive it. Would love to see more pics of yours !

That is a LP Kasuga Nav, it seemed they did that with the control cavities on those like the Heerby LPs.

I posted this earlier but removed it, Heerby and unfinished.

But doesn't change the fact that the one in question is a 1978 made by Kasuga Navigator SG. :D

has anybody played any black Navigator Standards? I've seen a couple but most are labeled 'custom order' as i don't think Navigator had black standards as stock these days. I'm also wondering if it could be an 80's or one of the poly finished N-LP 280. I've never seen or read a comment on a black Navi standards so was wondering if they would of same quality....honuduran wood and such.

I recently acquired an 80's Navigator that has an interesting truss rod cover, looks vintage but is actually a smaller thin black cover that goes on top of the larger white cover, so that's how it has the white edges. I've never seen a truss rod like that and wonder if that's how Navigator made it originally? Anybody else have a 2-piece truss rod cover?
