    Wow!!!!!!

What an amazing thread this was. This has got to be the most epic and utterly exciting threads i've read :)

It took me about 4 hours to read all of this.

So much suspense and this historic guitar now belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of fame is just incredible.

Thank you all so much for you incredible contributions.

Agreed, totally absorbing. I'd love to see a documentary made out of this, it's such a great story where the guitar ultimately takes second billing to the human story and the fascinating history.

There was time in the past no one would touch a Les paul till one of the latest rages at the time played one.

I don't think it's derogatory do you not make a profit from your builds? Nothing wrong with that.

well, I don't do it for free. however, the signature line stands. the factory motivation is more about profit whereas a luthier has the motivation of making the end user happy.

He ya go, the "before editing" post:D

I didn't build the damn guitar, and I don't appreciate your "tongue in cheek" derogatory use of my signature line.

Personal opinion only, not that informed or educated so feel free to disregard it but as I see it, Gibson was going nowhere fast before Slash picked up an LP, the LP in general was going nowhere fast until Slash played some replica and real LPs.

I know people get very animated about the rights and wrongs of producing replicas of an American Classic, but the modern wealth of the Gibson Corporation and the modern status of the Les Paul guitar seem to be inexorably bound up with the magical history and music of this time, that history also includes some very talented craftsmen who payed their own homage to a wonderful instrument.

On that basis, I feel that we are very lucky to have people who were there come out and talk about what was happening at the time. Finger pointing about something that is now ancient (but extremely interesting) history seems a bit pointless, particularly when the end results created boundless interest in the instrument we are all here to talk about and jobs and prosperity for the company that produced the guitar in question.

People re-create classics all the time... Just make certain they aren't being sold as originals...
BTW who built the damn guitar?
    hehe

Premier Guitar article The Legend of Slash Truth finally revealed :hmm::D

This article may be the closest we will ever get to the truth of the "hunterburst conspiracy"
    :laugh2::laugh2:

    Here is some inside scoop.

I knew of the plans for this article way back at the beginnings of this thread. I had met the owner of the mag at the Namm show and we talked about doing this.

This article was supposed to be the final chapter in the Hunterburst thread, the big grand finale if you will.

Some how it got put on the back burner and did not happen till recently. But it happened, and my work here is now done .:thumb:

It was a fun ride, and while it is a closed chapter for myself, I am sure the debate will go on well into the future.
    :D
