I got a pair of Rockfields about 5 years ago, and they were hard to find even then as none of the major online stores carried them. I just checked their site and the dealer I bought them from isnt listed anymore.

I got the SWC's (or might have been the SWV's, I'll have to double check) for my Goth LP and dug them. Esp the tonal variety I got with the coil tap options. They had some really nice cleans and did well enough when distorted. But I wanted a hotter/harder sound so I changed them out for some SDs a couple years ago.

Brian Porter from Porter Pickups is a new young pickup maker who has made some nice humbuckers, strat, and Tele pickups that I have really liked - they are all handmade in the USA, and sounded pretty darn good to my ears. My friend Mike who makes Saguaro guitars uses the Porter Pickups in all his instruments, and the guitarist that I tech for -- Brian Stoltz (Neville Brothers, Funky Meters, Bob Dylan) has endorsed Porter Pickups and we have been installing them into some of his vintage guitars that were sounding tired.

The SWC's with coil split is what drew me toward Rockfield pups. The sound clip with the clean coil split engaged is about the best I think I've ever heard.

Dearmond pickups? I know they're famous for their single coils, but their Goldtone humbuckers were pretty nice (in a mass produced, cheap sort of way) I seem to remember.
