Been a busy day - had the desire to sleep more than I had a chance to but there was a lesson booked in the morning, another at 2:00 pm, just back from band rehearsal tonight so it's just now that I can relate my little bit of the weekend. If I'd say it was really nice it would be an understatement. Very relaxed and comforting and I think that everybody else was feeling just the same. First of all surely the "Thank You"s to all those who made it possible and contributed more than average: Phil, Sylvia and Lauren for their hospitality and general support locally. Liam who is a real star because for a couple of years now he's been coming down a long distance from the North supplying us with a proper PA system, setting it up and working it all night - plus being a real nice fellow to share a room with - I'm happy that we had some proper talk this year. Thanks! Our dutch friend VIN who once again surpassed himself with another great design for this year's poster. Well done! Nims for picking me up in Bristol and taking me down to Broadchu...errr Bridport and then back to Hounslow and supplying me with a crash pad for a night - enjoyed my stay with you, mate - and I got to play some of his excellent guitars - the new Custom Tele is fabulous and I also loved giving the Ricky 12-string and the Gretsch a good workout. Cheers mate! As always Simon and Rachel, the landlords of the Crown Inn have been great hosts to our meet. Off course Toby and Fuzzy - special mention must be made of Fuzzy who's just been out of hospital a couple of days before but was in good spirits and fine form nevertheless - cheers lads! The acoustic night was a real nice departure from what we have been used to the previous years - low key performances where you really could work with dynamics and nuances which isn't always possible with a full electric band. I hope that we will continue doing it that way in upcoming years. Cheers to the punters of the pub who were the audiences on both nights who were very appreciative and seemed to enjoy themselves very much. Hope I haven't forgot anybody. I will be posting pictures as soon as I'll have some more time to post comments to them. Later...
Missed it again this year. Still, stories pic and vids are enough. Glad everything went smoothly. Any gathering of so many folks from so far away always has the potential to go awry. Matter of fact, probably better I wasn't able to make it.
One day we might actually drag you out of the wild west and get you seated for scones , cream and jam with a pot of tea.. "Cream tea you chaps?"..
Just realised I haven't posted any pics yet, so here goes: Phil dozing off mid-song: Lauren (Phil's daughter), Fuzzy and Phil: Geddy and Gyroman prepping for their performance: Geddy: Gyro: Performing "Rosalee": The great Liam balancing the sound: Phil showing off his new budget flightcase to Nims, Izzy and "unknown": Gyroman: Izzy, Toby, Fuzzy and Liam "rawking" out: Nims doing his thing with the band: Paul (12watt) and Julie: Nims and his new Tele which turned to be a real fine guitar: tbc...
Wish I had been there this year. Great snaps. Thanks for sharing. Try right hard to get there next year, I promise. That's if they'll let me back in Bridport after 2014.
For a minute there I couldn't figure out what the hell he was holding then I realized it was a tuner. The worst thing is that I have the exact same one but couldn't identify it at first glance
Mine sort of arrived... I got a note telling me that I was out when they tried to deliver it and I can pick it up tomorrow. Why the twat didn't leave it in the blatantly open bin cupboard or with my neighbour who never leaves the house is a mystery to me. Judging by the semi-literate scrawl on the card it seems that the postie who attempted to deliver it isn't overburdened with grey cells, so I suppose I should be grateful he didn't lose it en route.... I look forward to picking it up, and thanks Ted!
