That would be great, thanks you as always for your kindness.
no one on those cheap chinese cellouse nitrate inlays in my above post.Im just looking for a cheap set thats all.
They look to busy, more like the ones LG2 showed in post 10 of this thread.
The wrong kind of material if you compare it to the others.
ZAMMinc is the cheap way, but he has not listed them on ebay at the moment.
Anyone her bought or seen the inlays from JV IRL?
He acclaim that they are NOS 50's and exactly the same looking as the ones on late 50s Les Paul's. I'm just curious as I Googled for them and didn't get a single hit except Joe's own home page and on Ebay.
I've recently installed a couple sets of the new Retrospec celluloid inlays into my R8s. These are made by Mazzucchelli, the same factory in Italy that produced inlays for Gibson in the 1950s. IMO, they're about as accurate as you can get.
Before and after
Are these not the same thing as the Dave Johnson inlays?
Correct they had a second batch produced but believe they added some toners for a more aged look. DJ have no toners will age in sunlight like the originals
I believe you're correct, Flick. And BTW, here's a set of the DJ inlays I installed a couple of weeks ago:
And Dan, those inlays...and your work look killer (as usual)!
New HM Left, DJ Right
The patina is intense on the HM/Retrospec inlays.
These new inlays popping up claiming to be made in the original Factory in Italy ?? I recall when Dave Johnson had his produce he was told they could not produce celluloid nitrate inlays after 2007 cause of new laws.
Not to go A.V.H on you BUT If this is true then these new source claims that the celluloid is from Italian company Mazzucchelli ( original 50's Gibson OEM) in Italy Is false !!!
ISn't That False Advertisement ?
Re read the quote. He doesn't say they are made in Italy, he says "maybe, somebody could find the recepie for THIS celluloid there.
Long story short - they found it. Just today my rep. in China recieved first samples, made by this recepie and technology. I got the pictures, you be the judges.
If we'll run 2nd batch of LP kits, it will be with AUTHENTIC 59' celluloid inlays."
Here are the pictures that were deleted:
These appear to be packaged in China and if what George ACTUALLY said is true, they were made in China not Italy. We know China makes their own rules and their way of business can be very under minded and immoral at times. (Ask me about organ harvesting and transplants sometime. A subject I know much about. Sorry off topic)
And before you ask, no I don't know George and I am only speaking for myself. I don't know what the truth is about the inlays and I don't have a dog in the fight. I didn't buy a guitar from him and I don't have anything against those who did.
Are they the same as Dave Johnson's? You be the judge.
This is a "no BS thread" so I am just following the lead.
Not sure where your getting your info from, However I have direct contact with Mazzucchelli in Italy and that is exactly where Retrospec inlays were produced in 2010! So PLEASE do not insinuate we are false advertising!
