Thumps - that's awful - only clicked "like" to letcha know I've read your post....
Triggers my memory some way....
Probably the best potted history of harmony ( Use and construction of chords throughout history ) on the internet. Well worth watching .
A major breakthrough came along in around 1250 with 'Sumer is acumen in' ...Ironically used in the 'Wicker Man ' burning scene at the end of the film.
The first time a crude two chord progression was used as opposed to a one note drone accompaniment.
+1! H. Goodall is a top guy when it comes to explaining music and musical history.
I gave it a like... And I give likes merely in acknowledgement of reading a post like Tom.
Yeah his series on music is brilliant.
I love people who can turn a subject that to many would be sheer boredom into a fascinating programme.
A sort of David Attenborough of the music world...
Little did poor old Glazunov in Russia realise that around 100 years in the future Bill Conti in America would pinch part of one of his compositions and set it to a soundtrack. with images of jet aircraft and manned rockets to the moon and call it his own....
Looks terrible. I hope they can keep it under control..
Tim M texted me and indicated he was just settling into his new digs but that the wifi was..um...substandard...so his interwebz activity may be curbed for a time.
He has some health concerns due to test results and asks for some good vibes from the willing.
Glad to hear he has settled in Frank and thanks for the heads up.
Please send him all our best wishes from the shire and tell him I hope he feels better soon...
Also, tell the old bugger to hang on in there with regard the internet and not to buy into one of those Scottish made coin operated systems like Sid has. They cost a fortune to run and are unreliable.
Shop around for a good deal..They are out there...Just steer well clear of anything with McTavish written on the side....
Hoping Tim M gets back to running form soon. Please relay my best wishes to and for him.
They have to get it under control first. The high winds are scotching most aerial operations -- seems to me this is an operation that can only protect exposures (and obviously not many can be). Speaking from my own experience as a firefighter, this is a monster, and what little they can do is probably very little.
Man proposes, Nature disposes.
A steampunk laptop.
From what I've seen on the news it looks daunting. Hope your loved ones are well out of harms way.
They are, thanks for the well-wishes. Sad to see my old neighborhood burning down, though.
Good Morning folkses!
Had to take my daughter to the hospital - she jammed her right hand between an iron door and a concrete wall at school this morning when the wind pressed the door open. Nothing serious hopefully....
eeeps . ( how old is your daughter ? ) . wishes for the best possible outcome . hand injuries are the worst
Hope she's o.k.Tom and nothing broken.
Probably just bruised the bone.
Laura went to work early this morn . which means that I'll have some time to work on the computer ( and drink coffee ) , without hearing Fade Into You __ over and over . a couple of days ago , she figured out how to plug the acoustic in . I'm hiding the microphones from her
nice day here . supposed to reach 40F , so I have one of the kitchen windows open
Great that she's having a go and actually wants to practice. That's 99% of the battle won..
Tell her good on you gal....
