    Thanks! ^^

Yes, it's a custom! The previous owner noticed the pickups because now it has a Seymour Duncan '59 at the bridge! ^_^

    ALL OF THAT: 230€!!!

Now I'm thinking of taking lessons... :hmm:

Yay, my new special II is real (im assuming that the epiphone logo flaws in a fake one applies to all models).

Silverbursts dont have metal flake in the finish, and the pickguard screw is too close to the edge.

    Hello Guys!

I have just registered to this forum and I know that I haven't introduced myself properly but I had to post my discovery right away.

I was just reading some fake threads in the Epiphone Les Paul section when something caught my eye. When you go to the auction linked in this thread http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/epiphone-les-pauls/20812-fake.html there is a pic of the serial# (EE080416838). In the Q&A field of the auction linked in here http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/epi...e-epi-slash-tobacco-sunburst-german-ebay.html the seller answers a question about the serial# of his guitar...and guess what??....he says it's EE080416838!

So those fakers don't even bother to give their products different serials!!!

Just thought I let you FAKEHUNTERS know 'bout that, since I couldn't find anything by searching for that number in this forum.

Hope this can be some kind of help for you guys.

Thanks, we are always watching out for duplicate serials #s. Both of those guitars have all the telltale signs of being fake as well.
    Welcome to the forum!

Wish I still had my word doc with all the serial numbers and document fakes that we had. Most fakers don't show the S/N anymore.

Thanks for this post. A valuable lesson learned for once the easy way, that is, unless you find out yours is a fake.

I am looking at the below Epiphone Les Paul, could you take a look at the ebay advert, i have also gained some extra photos of the head stock attached.

I am looking at other late 90's early 00's Les Pauls, mainly the MIK Epi's, but they don't have as many pics, not sure if it is worth posting. How safe are you with the MIK epi's that have a serial number that corresponds with the advert, or would it be wise to steer clear?

    hi guys

i recently bought this epi custom off ebay

i initially loved it, plays well and looks amazing, and came with the correct warranty and information.

However, having read your threads on fake epi's, im a little worried. The serial number says its made in china's epiphone factory Quingdao, but there was no luck on JPW's decrypter. The main thing that worries me is the tailpeice seems to fall away (see 3rd pic)

    Here's some more pics:

If you think it is a fake, please explain why? Ive read the numerous help threads and cant make my mind up. And also, if it is, what options do i have and how will it affect the guitar itself.

    Thanks

    Edit: Heres the ebay link:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120359510453&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BID_IT&refitem=120356359355&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its%3DS%252BI%26itu%3DUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D4
The seller has positive feedback from all similar items, however i know this doesnt mean much...

Yeah, it looks fake. His vintage sunburst is hard to tell because he only supplies one picture.

Off the top of my head here are a few things that are wrong
    Back plate is mishappen badly
    Knobs are not correctly place

    As well as many more.

What you need to do is ask for a full refund, including shipping both ways or you will report it to local authorities.

Basically you can keep it if you want, you already have it. I would suggest getting the refund however so you can get a legit Epiphone. The reason why you want a legit, is because they use much better wood. Better quality. Won't break on you with in a year. Also the tuners will be straight.

    Thanks for your reply.

What i want to know is, what effects does it have on the sound of the guitar, and what other negative effects is there? Will the bridge be playable, will the tuners lock okay? ect ect

will it be worth replacing the wiring?

i think I can cope with the cosmetic differences

    Hi dude

Tell the seller you took it to a local shop and they confirmed its fake.

Say you have been ripped off and will inform EVERY other buyer that he sells fakes.

He WILL refund you, even if you have left bad feedback.

You now have his home address, emails, proof he supplied you with counterfit gear.

    Use this against him.

Then, when he has, inform everyone anyway.

People should just boycott eBay for "new" Epiphones because its worse than a fucking backstreet dealers at the moment.
