That's weird. I wonder if that's happening for anyone else if they try to view my video.

I just added another link and corrected the video as it was set to "private" instead of "unlisted."

yeah, i'm audio only. this was done with no eq (or anything else). and unfortunately, the ac/fan combo made it into the recording. :)

    gear:
    edwards les paul custom
two paf style piclups (i won't disclose the winders)
amp was a vox ac15c1 (greenback celestion)
two cords, with a way huge green rhino mkII for dirt (second section)

my tonal beef is that the bridge pickup (both pickups are uncovered) is still a little too high mid focused. i would certainly like to have a set of pickups that work with gold covers, since this is a black custom. the bridge is a little hotter than i'd prefer (8.1ish). i like me the lower wind type paf piclups. but my main axes are teles, so i have to set limits. :)

anyway, thanks for offering this. it's very nice of you to do so. and sorry i couldn't supply any video.

Holy / Unholy - with three coils, two magnets and 6 conductor wiring you can have BOTH and then some!

Here goes nothing - have mercy :p

Recorded around midnight. This is what having a kid does to your playing! Underpractised, underprepared, tired, worried about waking the family up, tired. At some point I kind of stop/forget to keep pointing out which pickup is active... I use a lot of right hand dynamics in my playing rather than adjust knobs, I hope that comes across.

---- A list of your basic signal chain gear (pickups, guitar, gain stages, amp, speakers, cab)

The guitar is a 1986 Ibanez Roadstar II RG140 where the whole pickguard with electronics assembly has been replaced. Middle pickup is a Baby '71 from The Creamery, neck and bridge are Antiquities.

I'm playing direct through my pedalboard: the relevant components for this is the Amplifire preamp/modeler where I have a zingy Deluxe amp going through an IR of a Hiwatt cab with Fane speakers, miced by a Royer 121. After a while I turn on my LTS M-24 and Fairfield Electronics Barbershop overdrives (both individually set to be bright and dynamic). At the end I add delay, reverb and do some instalooping with my Count To Five, finally turning on the BuggFX Daydream for the filtering sounds (all these in the fx loop of the Amplifire). This last third is most representative of what I might actually sound like when I play :)

---- A brief description of what you like and don't like about your sound

In a nutshell I want something to keep up with the Wide Range-style middle pickup's clarity and separation, the Ants just can't. The bridge pickup is also too nasal and the neck pickup lacks definition. The Creamery pickup is just brilliant and I've certainly considered just getting two more, but then this opportunity came around! Indivudual magnets for each string seems like a good idea for this guitar?

Great demo and post, kboman! I already have a number of ideas for your guitar, should you win. Also, not to sound arrogant but I had a strong suspicion those were Antiquities by the sound before I read your notes. With your nice clean rig, in the beginning, it's easy to hear their trademark sound. Nothing at all wrong with them, but they are also pretty plain sounding with nothing real interesting that jumps out and grabs your attention.

I'm planning to share my thoughts on everyone's rig if I can, whether they win or not, so we'll definitely have a discussion about it, at the least. :thumb:

The Antiquities are actually on loan from our mutual friend Aly: I got a set of Seth Lovers too and they were just awful, almost parodically muddy and wooly (with 520-530K V/T pots!). I've had a bunch of different pickups in this guitar and it's fascinating to find what works and what doesn't.

James, my video is in the works and will be posted hopefully tomorrow.
Thank you so much for your generosity. Doing these contest/giveaways is so nice of you!!

Ps: That video is totally the Cell movie. That movie still creeps me out just thinking about it. Lol Vince Vaughn before he hit the comedy roles. Nice one!!
