Kind of interesting: You like the album (CD, MP3 folder, whatever) enough for it to have a solid spot in your rotation, but there's that one song that always sends your finger reaching for the skip button .

For me, it's no contest: Mountain Jam. Look, I understand they were dealing with unimaginable grief and trying to put together a musical funeral barge for Skydog, but that song is essentially a decent six-minute jam buried under 27 additional minutes of throwaway noodling. It's made worse by the fact that the rest of the album is so great.

    What's yours?

WALK OF LIFE on Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. Sounds like a Credence tune, but done by guys who can play.

Skipping over Mountain Jam means you're missing out on half of the album! If you want to hear 27 minutes of throwaway noodling, try listening to any Grateful Dead live album :)

The song I always skip over is Dream On off of Aerosmith's first album. That's a song I've heard one too many times.

Funny thing is, Mountain Jam totally sounds like live Dead to me for the first 27 minutes. Just lots of empty space, and the most uninspired drum solo ever put on wax. Yes, it takes up two whole album sides - but that's a big part of why I'm not into it.

Moving in Stereo from the Cars debut album. I know it morphs into All Mixed Up, which I do like, but I can't stand Moving in Stereo.

"One Minute of Silence," Soundgarden, "Ultramega OK" album; original by John Lennon.
Although sadly, I'm at work now, so I guess technically I'm listening to it over and over again right now...

"Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me" Motorhead, Bastards. Makes my skin crawl. the rest of the album, being Motorhead, is awesome.

Oh gawd, where to start... I'll pick on what was once the greatest band in the world:

    For Your Life
    Hots On For Nowhere
    Bonzo’s Montreux
    Candy Store Rock
    Royal Orleans
    Hats Off To (Roy) Harper
    Hot Dog
    Boogie With Stu

Beyond Led Zeppelin, I suppose I could go on forever.

Stairway to Heaven. Loved it as a kid. Too long. I still do like they way it builds.

So, I'm not the only one ...

    See my post above.

I actually like Boogie With Stu and Hats Off To (Roy) Harper. The others? For sure.

I also like Boogie... and Hats..., and Hots on For Nowhere is OK too. Not great, but certainly not bad enough for me to skip. I think Crunge is the only Zep song that might make this list for me.

I'm talking the nails-on-a-chalkboard songs. Black Sabbath "Changes," for example, is lame as hell and I don't like it at all, but it's not so bad that I can't listen to it.

Brown eyed girl by van morrison. I’ve had a few too many troublesome run-ins with them before.
