It does actually work! looks a bit weird but I dont care as long it makes for a better performing instrument.

Any well designed headstock doesn't need such toys

True, but it's a good idea for a Gibson!

solves nothing that a properly cut nut cannot fix

and its ugly as sin, might appeal to the metal guys stuck on one of them horrible pointy things

I know - it was my opinion

I don't think I'll ever try it - cause my guitars don't need it
so I don't care if it works or not

I love mylespaul forums! And appreciate all the responses I see and get regarding a members post/question. I do have one peeve though. I realize that responses to threads are an individual's opinion but when they stray from the question they may do little to help. Not being a professional luthier or player it seems that the Gibson headstock is not the well designed headstock it could be due to the multiple angles the strings must deal with. And that a properly cut nut will only be short lived due to wear. This is only an opinion from a guitar player and Gibson Les Paul owner.

Regardless of the actual product, I really like their fake gibson headstock. Classy.

Heritage Guitars should adopt that shape instead of the putty knife look they currently use.:laugh2:

I agree. Ernie Ball seems to have the only proper headstock design (shortest possible length of string beyond nut + straight string travel.

That said, the Les Paul headstock design doesn't seem to have performance problems due to the change of direction at the nut.

Stays in tune (well enough), doesn't hang on bends. Nut life is sufficient (based on decades of people's experiences.

This thread is in the backstage, not one of the actual guitar forums. Helping with the original question is not required.

    Helping?

In The Backstage READING the original question is not required. ;)

You can just respond with a picture like this and reply "Oh, string butLER! I thought you wrote something else"

I was really looking for opinions based on actual experience not preconceived notions. Thanks though.
