I agree, the damage had been done long ago, and now it was time to take care of her, I think we take good care of her, Tom said the neck angle didn't need angle adjustment but still he removed it to work on the fretboard and binding.

I agree - no need to bind it.

No need to bind it, no need to refin it, but if you decide to make a "period correct" conversion to a 59, we need to take care of those details, at least this is how I see the conversion.

But I understand your point and it is respectable also, just that I usually like how binding look on burst, the same as pickguard for example...

I hope you forgive me... lol

    Couple q's:
    Was it retopped?
Was the r/t hole routed out to be late 50's size? I don't see the channel in the underside of the maple
The wiring channel is a weird location. Did it ever change?

The guitar was not retopped, it is the original top, which is the best part being a 52 with center seam.

Tom has done a full conversion, I will show pictures lqter today, so he put plugs on the holes and started the conversion from scratch to make it precisely with 59 template.

Your progress of this thread is even slower than the time it took to make the conversion!

in the age of binge viewing my patience for waiting every week for a new episode grows thin( Game of thrones and westworld I make exceptions for) , for what I anticipate will be a great outcome I will do my best to patiently await the next installment of "VINTAGE NGD MAKEOVER"

OK guys, let's go on with the big part of Tom's work, removing the markers, and taking parts of the guitar:

So, now Tom can work on the body, sanding, pluging pickups cavities, routing,... but this is for next part of the story ;)

I like that this guitar - with design issues, break and mods is going to be made into a playable guitar. The time and cost to do this must be appreciable.
I do love the unbound 52's but can appreciate this is your baby cant wait to see that top shine......
Its no wonder someone at Gibson suggested they stop covering them up!
