Anybody heard from Dave of SD pickups lately? Ordered and paid for a set of pickups back in late June and still waiting. The wait isn't that big a deal but I am concerned that I haven't gotten any responses to emails I sent him trying to get a time frame as to the hold up and when my pickups might be ready.

He's still there. A one man operation and he is still working on pickups. He's posted here recently.

I had waited 5 months for my VL2's and it was 100% worth the wait . I think, no matter what your getting you'll be really happy with them . Dave is great and winds some fine pickups .

Good things come to those that wait.

I got mine around the time you ordered yours and it took about 5 months. I wouldn't be surprised if he was even more backed up now. They will show up though. :thumb:

5 months? The pickup demos on youtube sounded good, but thats just too long of a wait.

I could see a month, and maybe Id wait 2, but 5?

I'd give my left nut to have a 5 month backlog!:laugh2:

(but I would not give both nuts to have a 10 month backlog)

Zero backlog, and proud of it.
No reason for a five months backlog, unless there are 1000 orders pending.
    Which is unlikely.

Zero backlog also and proud of it. I never want to deal with a backlog again. It slows everything down. The best thing I ever did for ThroBak was to hire great full time help.

I gots to say the 2 above this post are the 2 I have installed right now on my main 2 and I would not trade them. (I do have Sheds on the third one though)

I have been wanting to try the SD but I'm really inpatient and I feel so pleased with the pickups I have right now. I might be in if the wait wasnt so long.

No offense to anybody, but 5 months is a very long wait, however good the product may end up being. I mean, you can have a new house built in that time span...! Just sayin. I always feel like anything over a week is bad for customers.... Not trying to pile on or anything, but it is what it is....

Don't often see Dave dropping into threads regarding the work of other winders and making public comments about the way they run their business. He just does his thing. Sometimes "doing his thing" means participating vigorously in arguments about the work ... but isn't this is a bit different?

I think Rod's comment is a playful tease and means no harm, but the rest of you purportedly backlog-free pickup makers ... kinda bad form, don't you think?

I think it's OK. He's pretty good at dishing it out himself, no?

I have to disagree. Dave can often be seen criticizing and lambasting anyone and everyone who doesn't make thier own parts out of mystical unicorn urine, or who uses readily available parts.
BrazenPicker got it right. He's good at dishing it out, he should be able to take it. :)

In the end, He knows we care about him and mean no ill will.

<edit>after a moment's thought - Is there a difference? and what difference does it make? - might as well keep my thoughts to myself, except to say ...</edit>

I'll wait for Dave's pickups, anytime.

I was told in advance the estimated time of delivery, so I don't have a problem with it.
