Finally got around to working on my Classic Custom that I've been putting off.

Swapped out the Classic 57's for some Seymour Duncan Sentient/Nazgul pickups, these are angry but so crystal clear!! I also swapped all the CC chrome hardware out for gold, which I am smitten with. Dyed the fretboard with Kiwi dye, used it many times before and it works like a charm! These baked maple fretboards are great but just too light for me, especially on a Custom. Lastly, I gave it a proper setup. This thing is flat out amazing now, my favorite guitar to play....at least for now, LOL!

I tried it on a rosewood Jackson neck a long time ago and it's held up really well. I figured I'd see how baked maple would react, so far looks perfect but it's been maybe 24 hours. I cleaned the fretboard then just applied the dye, let it sit then wiped off the excess. I repeated the process until I got the shade I liked. Once it was all done, I used a pencil eraser to clean up the inlays, binding, and nut. I'm sure there's a few spots left but it looks good to me. All in all I needed about 4 coats.

My Classic Custom is 6 years old now and the baked maple is still looking and feeling great. It sounds better than ever.

Still say that they are the best damn axes out there. :)

So what your saying is I need to buy a classic custom..

    That thing is bananas...

    Love love love it

Uncovered pups on a black custom always reminds of the slash solo on the estranged video where he is “floating”down sunset...

Where did you get this truss rod cover?! Is it actually brass or is it brass looking plastic?

Honestly I'm not 100% sure but it's either eBay or Etsy. Not sure what's it made of either but it's definitely not plastic. Let me see if I can find out where I got it from.
