    Hi!
I built a C3 clone of a Soldano SLO 100 some time ago, and I'm still trying to find "my" sound with. I'd also be happy to sound like Warren Haynes, but I think he could probably make a Pignose sound like Warren Haynes ;)
So, surfing around, I found that Soldano equips the SLO with Sovtek 12AX7 LPS in V1 and V2 and Sovtek 12AX7LP (no "S") in V3-V5. The reasoning for this being that "the 12AX7LPS can not handle very high cathode voltages, such as that which exists in the phase inverter, and tone and effects loop drivers, of the SLO". The LPS are the "Long-Plate-Spiral" variety, but what are the LP? I can only find Sovtek 12AX7 WA, WB and WC, and they all seem to be short plate???

And because nobody looks at threads without pics, here's one :)

Interesting, never heard of the "LP" version either.
I use the LPS in at least one spot of all my amps.

I have a Sovtek LP from the late 90s, and some LPS versions from the same period. They look the same to me, but here are a couple of pics of the LP if it helps... 20170826_110753.jpg 20170826_110825.jpg

So they do exist! Where does one find them though?
