I was jokingly going to say I'd send you some of my gain when I'm not using it.

Then......I hit on an idea. Tone-over-IP.

You have a hardware interface, maybe USB to your phone. That plugs into your guitar....we send it over here to my gain channel, and send it back to your cabinet.

I even have a name for the phone app..... DialTone.

    A weekend of playing.

I fully expected to live on the "clean" channel.

I've spent 95% of the time in "Soul" and "Soul+OD".

I wish my playing (and ability to record) allowed me to post sound clips. I know that if I did, I'd do a disservice to what Don has crafted. And your ears.

I also almost never use my neck pup, so factor that in if you're gonna try to make sense of me.

Who, I'm glad you're enjoying it. 6V6s and high-gain is an interesting mix. I'm still can't decide if I should add it to the product line.

Here's something fun that happened today (before my loving and understanding wife got home).

I hesitate to post this gif, because it seems a bit snobby... but I assume everyone knows the humor of the movie:

Who, flip the HI/LO switch up, then hang on! did you have all three buttons on the foot switch on? What are you using for speakers?

I had Soul and OD on the footswitch.

Speakers are 8 ohm Celestion Vintage 30s in an Avatar cabinet.

I had been using Soul+OD+Grind, but that was too much. I only later realized I could just Soul+Grind (without the OD).

I also picked up a tip from BB King in another thread today. Turn everything all the way up, and control things at the guitar.

Which is fine..... unless you've forgotten that this is what you're doing, you have your bridge pickup at less-than-1.... then flick the switch to the neck that you left on 10!

The downside to diming everything is that you'll get a LOT of noise (hum/hiss) from the amp. By their very design high-gain amps are noisy. Your amp doesn't have the regulated DC power supply for the tube heaters (my other big amps have this) which helps lower the noise floor.

Yes, it had the hiss..... I was experimenting in places I rarely tread.

I still have to say.... with everything "dimed", and the guitar down low... the Soul is a beautiful "clean". "Soul" is a perfect name, if angels are souls who have transcended. :h5:

I love the clean tone of a screaming amp with the guitar rolled back. It's got that sizzle that sounds ready to strike at any moment.
I bet those speakers got a workout. :)

Choosing between Tremor, Serenity, and Wraith would be difficult. :thumb:

if it helps (and it's only my opinion), the Tremor is like a hot-rodded Fender, the Serenity is more like a hot rodded Soldano, and the Wriath is like a Hot Rodded Vox.

(to my ears, someone else may hear something completely different)

My Wraith has that nasty grindy Vox-like OD to my ears. Great for Rock,..perfect for Rock.

All three get really nice clean tones.

But then it's been years since I tried 2 of those 3,...and it sounds like he's tweaked the circuits on everything. So my info I guess is outdated now.

I played my ST for hours yesterday though, and for 'outdated' it's sure one hell of an Amp. :thumb:

I love my Wraith. I typically don't get along very well with Vox, so I'm not sure how accurate that description is. But, I'll defer to Don, as he knows the circuits and I don't.

idk, I have a little 15w Vox practice amp and to my ears the Overdrives are similar. It's not a smooth compressed ultra saturated gain like say a 5150 or a Mesa. It's more a snarly, ripping overdrive that reminds me of my little Vox.

But the cleans? Idk what they remind me off. A beautiful Soul Tramp I guess. The cleans are amazing.

Just bumping this thread to express some more love for Don's work.

I have had more quality time with this amp. Today, with no one else home, it got turned up "a bit" :naughty:.

Playing chords on "soul" channel is something impressive. I just want to stay there inside it. I lost track of time. After a while, I was thinking..... this could be louder. It turns out I may have been damaging my hearing. :eek2:

Tinnitus is on overdrive right now.

This amp is (IMO) not one that NEEDS to be driven hard, but sometimes its fun to let loose.

Most of the time I play it, I could probably hear someone talking to me in the room. It does a great job at that volume, too.

I was working on a tutorial from @tonedr, playing a guitar I bought from @guitaraddict, through the amp by @Soul Tramp..... it was an MLP solo/collaboration. :)
