I just bought back my old '98 B4 Custom, so I'm swapping one black guitar for another. This one is a killer first-year Historic R7 that was sent to Historic Makeovers for a black/ebony refin and given their Deluxe makeover package in 2016 plus some additional options as well. If you're looking at this, you probably know what the Deluxe makeover is, but here is a brief summary: Neck reset with hide glue Fretboard replaced with Brazilian rosewood Inlays replaced to vintage-correct material and shape Neck profile changed to match that of an actual '59 Les Paul Top carve deepened slightly to match a '50s Les Paul Refinish with vintage-correct non-plasticized nitro Vintage-correct Royalite binding Original serial number restamp with vintage-correct typeface Moderately aged using freezing techniques to achieve actual finish checking In addition, it was given the vintage-correct logo replacement, which is a few hundred dollar upgrade on top of the Deluxe package and one of my favorite aesthetic features of this guitar. It also has a two sets of Retrospec thumbwheels, which is a great upgrade. The previous owner had it refretted and Plek'd by Mike Lull Custom Guitars pretty much immediately after getting it back from HM with slightly larger frets and a new nut and it plays amazingly. Nibs were not preserved. there is a certificate indicating that work that will be included. It also currently (and as pictured below) has lots of upgraded parts from my stash. If you're not really into that kind of high-end stuff, I'm very much open to swapping those out and reducing the price accordingly. Here's a summary of what it's decked out with and how much I would subtract if you didn't want them: OX4 Ed King (double-cream in the bridge; zebra in the neck) pickup set (-$200) Wizz v2 aged pickup covers (-$80) Montreux Time Machine top hat knobs (-$75), originals included either way Vintage '60s nickel Pat Pend Grovers ($-200), I would be happy to keep these Vintage Haven switch ring p chip (-$80) MojoAxe aged cream jack plate (-$10), original is also included, but is chipped at one corner MojoAxe aged pickguard (-$30), original is included either way Philly Luthier course-knurl switch ring nut (-$5), original is included either way It's also shown pictured with a vintage Burst switch tip, which is not included. I've already put a high-quality repro amber switch tip (either MSSC or Creamtone - I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember which between those two). It's slightly lighter in shade compared to the one pictured. Weight as pictured is 8 lbs, 15 oz. Sale includes the COA from Historic Makeovers (Gibson didn't issue a COA with these) and the original hardshell case, which is a brown Gibson USA with the pink lining and shroud. These are what the Custom Shop used in the first year and happen to be (IMO) the best cases Gibson has ever used before or since. Asking $4975 PP/shipped CONUS with all the upgrades; subtract as mentioned above without those options). With the Deluxe Makeover plus the extra option (logo replacement), plus all the boutique/vintage parts, this is priced as if you were basically given a 1993 R7 husk and sent it for the makeover and some upgraded parts.
