I'm a vegetarian/plant-based, have been for just over 8 years now. There's so much healthy, tasty & nutritious food around now that I have no desire or reason to eat something grown in a lab. Even more off-putting is that it's being grown in a lab to resemble meat, sounds pretty revolting.

I can maybe see its appeal to people that are just making the move from a meat diet to a plant-based diet, but even then there's still a good proportion of them that it probably wouldn't appeal to either.

Yeah, but this isn’t even plant-based, or is it? I thought its “cloned meat”, not some veggie burger gone fancy.
So i don’t see it as a stepping stone for people to go vegetarian. It’s either to make meat “more humane” or to make it cheaper.
But MLP already has a guy for cheap meats.
They’re welcome to do whatever they want, as long as no tax dollars go into it.
    Then i start caring.

It is only in the last century or so that there has been enough science to know what people were/are suffering from.

Nothing exists outside of nature. Ants build colonies ... we build cities that include science labs. That is our nature.

I agree that going out a picking a fruit off a plant seems more natural than taking some chemical created in a lab. But in reality they are not that far removed. Kinda like standing in the bottom of the Grand Canyon or standing on top of Mt. Everest ... it seems a big difference to most, but neither is really closer to the Sun.

That's not really true. Just because the collagen and other tissues grow in a lab doesn't mean that any genes have been modified at all. In fact, usually very small tissue samples are taken from an animal (which doesn't hurt the animal at all) and then those tissues are made to grow. So there's no genetic modification going on, though it could happen.

I cannot fathom why someone would want to eat a fake burger.

    Think it out.

If I don't want to eat meat, why in the hell would I want to eat something to look like meat, marketed as fake meat?

'Hey! These fake burgers look and taste just like a real burger!'
    A. No fark they don't.
    B. You say you don't eat meat. Why the fark do you want to pay a stupid price for beans shaped to look like a burger. Looks to me like you ain't real comfortable in yo veggie lifestyle if you still crave meat....

If Tofu is so damn good, why ain't they any Tofu flavored any-damn-thing. That soda company even did Turkey & Dressing flavored sodas...

Have they made a Tofu flavored soda? Hell to the nawt....

Has any damn body ever said "Let's go over to the Tofu house and get a nice big slab of Tofu." Hell no...

    Klik, Kam and Spam!
    The perfect fishing/hunting "carry food".
    :D

When I was a kid my father brought Klik or Kam when we went fishing.
He'd have bread and mustard and we'd make our sandwiches in the boat.
I never really liked it but didn't hate it either.
It's supposedly worse than it used to be.
I wouldn't dare eat "that" today.
Or have my kids eat "that" either.

P.S.: I have read somewhere that cannibal tribes that have been
"converted" to not eating human flesh are crazy about Spam,
"because that's what tastes more like human flesh".
    Internet rumor?
    I don't know.
