I prefer the bridged decked now, I think you get more resonance out of it. Tightening the trem claw all the way to the wood and using 5 springs helps too.

I've tried using a wood block a la Clapton, tonally it is a plus (IMO) but with the 2 point tremolo, inserting the block can knock the bridge plate off the posts slightly, which then raises and tilts the bridge. Just an FYI in case you were thinking of going all the way

I decked my guitar and I can hear the notes ring out longer (for a Strat)

Tuning never an issue with the locking tuners, roller nut, and locking trem

So far don't miss whammability at all because I rarely used it

Whereas, always have a need for sustain and resonance...

Thanks again guys for your advice :thumb:

I followed this YouTube video to block the trems in 2 of my stats. It is very simple, absolutely 100% non-damaging, and works really well. It uses 5 (US) Half Dollar coins taped together to slide in the rearward opening next to the term block and the body of the guitar and 2 (US) Dimes taped together on the other side of the block. Works great!

Sorry, didn't see this until now. I picked the body up on CL. It's an Ash body with a gun oil finish. I kinda dig it! :thumb:

It only took a couple days to get used to, now it's not much of a difference, just feels a little weird when tuning sometimes. :laugh2:
