This was my first Epiphone, a 1999 MIK Les Paul Standard that I bought sometime around 2003. I was a Strat man until I picked this thing up in a pawn shop. For the bulk of its time with me, it had a SD JB in the bridge and the stock humbucker in the neck. It was my main guitar until 2012 when I bought a Gibson that cost 6x as much (and was only about 10% better). At that point, I took off the pick guard and put a set of GFS Mean 90's in it, later putting the JB back before finally trading it away for a Nashville Tele.

My second Epiphone was picked up around 2005. Traded an extra guitar straight across after convincing the pawn shop worker how "valuable" my 60's guitar was. It was stolen out of a church parking lot about a year later, which was okay - I never really got into the SG as the balance was so awkward.

My third Epi was another trade - Custom Shop white G-400. This one was a mess, honestly. It had a Tele pickup in the neck (with gaping hole) and stock pickup in the bridge (but disconnected). The knobs were all mismatched (2 stock, 2 knurled chrome), and the whole thing was a mess. I originally put the Mean 90s in this guitar and matched up the chrome knobs. I loved the tone, but simply couldn't get comfortable with the guitar... same issues as before. This guitar got traded to my kid sister for a bass amp.

Epiphone number four was a perplexing beast. ES-339 Pro P90. Gorgeous guitar, lots of comments every time I'd pull it out of the case, and it was such a comfortable guitar to play. I'd often grab it instead of my Gibson for just sitting and strumming. What got me was the boxy tone. I could dial in good tones for jazz and loud rock, but nothing else. Particularly when amps were dialed in for my Les Paul, Strat, and Tele, the 339 just sounded bad. Bought in 2015, traded away this weekend for...

Epiphone number five, an Emperor Swingster. I'm cautiously optimistic that the Gretsch-esque tones are exactly what my guitar stable needs.

I have a Epiphone S-series S400 with the standard brigde. Original had the ssh configuration. 1988model. Elongated headstock. Have had this for some years now and want to put it back in original shape. . Its been really scratched and been played on stage for over 10years by previous owner. Also the pickguard does not fit right and the pickups is old squiers from a japan made. And alot of screws is wrong and poor work.

Anyone know witch type of pickups this guitar should have? Alnico 2 style maybe?

Year-end group collage. Most are "others," if Juniors and Specials aren't included with more usual archtop Les Pauls. All are "others" if the mini-humbuckers in the LP Deluxe are far enough off the beaten path to qualify it.[IMG]

After a lot of trading/selling/buying over the years, I finally ended up with these two... I'm really happy! Although GAS for a Thunderhorse Silverburst Explorer is coming up :laugh2:

    Enjoy!

-> I call this one "Jesper" because of Jesper Strömblad, ex In Flames - one of my favorite musicians, he always played a voodoo gibson explorer. It's an unbelievable guitar with the lowest action and no fretbuzz, and gibson electronics + tonepros bridge. loving it! (just wish it had binding and was a silverburst)

-> I got this mint from ebay, really wanted something silver burst (brent hinds sig) but it was just out of my price range and I always wanted a korina. the headstock decal was changed by the previous owner. plays and sounds really good, I always have a tough choice between both of them.

    cheers! :dude:

Another MIJ Emperor T in da house.... 1981 Matsumoku made. She's had a few bits changed over the years, but no cracks or delaminations. Rings like a bell.

I usually string my electrics with 9's. Not sure what these are on it, but they feel light to me... I've got a set of flatwound 11's to put on it. Hope to make time to give it the once over cleanup and restring this week. :fingersx: NGD thread soon...

Such an awesome guitar. Love it.
