My 2011 Gretsch G6128T-DSV Duo Jet is my Holy Grail guitar. I was on a quest to find the one electric guitar that I would ride into the sunset with and after a lot of research and test driving I found the one! The tones that come out of this heavily chambered mahogany body with a maple top are extremely satisfying to my soul. I don't know how they do it but it seems even the body wood is in tune with itself. If I let a chord ring at high volume the most musical feedback starts to form. It even sounds good acoustically. The Dynasonic pickups are amazing and give the tone a 3D "kerrang" quality compared to the warm and present "waah" of the P90's on my Les Paul which happens to be my #2 with a bullet.

I was about 16 and had been playing on a cheap Epi Strat copy I saved all my cash and found this used at a larger mom and pop shop by my house its a RG770 1991 In Emerald Green. I sold it in 1997 or 98 to buy my first car. In about 2006 when I started playing again I tracked down the friend that knew the guy I sold it to and bought it back. He broke a string a week after buying and it sat in its case all those years.

I have several Gretsch's with the Dynasonic pickups in them and you're right - those may be the most musical pickups (along with the TV Jones T-Armonds) that I've ever played.

And amazingly, they sound like nothing else on the market!

I already posted to this thread (post 79), where I nominated a build that means a lot to me. But as I'm bored, I've decided that that doesn't count, so I'm going to offer another one from the family....

Nineties USA Standard, Sonic Blue, completely stock, owned from new, and often neglected over the years, but I always come back to it.....

There won't just be one, the TradProII that is only original to the wood, because I went through the PITA of refinishing it myself. And the ESLP because it is just damn good.

I dont think I will ever sell a guitar ... but if I had to or if I had to pick just 1 to keep it would be my Gary Moore BFG :D

That may seem strange as it may not be the most beautifull guitar I have but definatyl the most verstatile and the only one I really enjoy playing on.

I have multiple "keepers". When people make guitars for you, you can't sell them.

I could never sell the guitars made for me by Doug Kauer or Roman Rist.

    Never.

As for my big name stuff? Only this guitar. All of the Gibsons, Fenders...whatever...I'd sell 'em all if I had to. But I'd really hate to part with this one.

I probably won't ever sell my Strat HSS either, not because it's anything special outside of being a kick butt guitar, but it was an extremely good $ investment at barely over $800 bucks!!!

Love a Tele and Strat too, and when I get done moding my Deluxe Strat, it will likely be a forever guitar... Right now, I am not enamoured with the noiseless pup configuration, but we are going to work on that soon...

    The Deluxe:

Another reason I love my guitar configurations is they are all MADE in USA, including my Martin acoustic. I doubt I will sell my Martin either, but who knows, if I ever get really enamoured with acoustic, I could upgrade it. But I don't see myself becoming that folksy.
