Just got my second AFD :slash:
Like all my other Epis, I am so happy with how they play and sound, especially when I compare to my Gibson LP Standards and Historics.
Isn´t it great that you don´t have to put down a fortune to get a great guitar :thumb:

Here's mine when it was still fresh in the box. I expected a lot less for what I paid and was prepared to to replace the electronics and pick ups and set it up right away. I've had it for several months now and only changed the truss rod cover from "Les Paul Custom Pro" to "Les Paul Custom". (and strap locks) (and several sets of strings)

There may be some mods in the future but this is already a great guitar; I play it as much as my 1998 Gibson Les Paul Std. and enjoy it equally.

The only problem was that the strap button near the neck was screwed in crooked. I repaired it easy enough with titebond and toothpicks and re-drilled it straight. The tuners were all installed straight. No set up done yet; the neck has 0.003" of relief and plays great with a super low action.

This is my only Epiphone so far, I'm looking for an explorer or Flying V next because the LP is nice.

    D.

I had a Wolfgang EXP and a Samick Wolfgang copy as my two players at home, but a few months ago, after I sold them to fund a different wolfgang, I found myself with no regular guitar to play right away. I went to Guitar Center for two hours trying out Les Pauls, and I knew I had to have one. So I picked up this blue one....

and then I had come across this one too...

love them both... but have them "listed" (wink) on reverb in case my wife finds another guitar arriving one of these days....

Damn, put a pair of open-coil black pickups, and a B-bender, and presto! Pagey's "Red"...

She's in getting Burstbuckers (1 and 2) and push/pull pots right now. Got them on Craigs list for a 160. Seemed like a good price.

Changed the knobs to white speed knobs.

In a few weeks, I expect to have some white/silver knobs to check out and which I like best--white speed, white/silver, or a combination of both.

This is my 2006 Les Paul Standard. I bought it used last year and replaced quite a bit of it. I decided to go with an entirely black & chrome look, just because I had never seen a Les Paul like that, and I thought it would look really cool.

My initial motivation to mod it was because it wasn't taken care of by the original owner and it wouldn't stay in tune. Now it looks great, plays great, feels great, and sounds great. It was fun hunting down all the parts online and learning to mod it.

    Here's all the replacement parts:

    Gotoh tune-o-matic bridge, chrome
    Knobs, chrome
Nut - Graph Tech TUSQ XL 1/4"
    Pickguard bracket, chrome
Pickguard, cavity covers, truss rod cover, all chrome
    Pickup surrounds, chrome
Ring surround plate (Treble/Rhythm) for toggle, chrome
    Screws
    Strap locks - Schaller
Strings - D'Addario EXL 110 nickel wound, light, size .010-.046

Here's my 2004 Epi LP Classic.

The original electronics were gutted and replaced with: 500K CTS pots, 022 Orange Drop caps, Switchcraft switch/jack, Seymour Duncan SH-2 neck pickup, and Seymour Duncan SH-4 bridge pickup. The little switch between the volume/tone knobs is a phase inverter for the neck pickup.
