That's crazy talk. Who would do that?

    Oh yeah, Les Paul would.

If Les Paul had been a member on this board (anonymously), he'd be ripped to shreds for his ideas.

I would say its your guitar, do what makes you happy. since its already beat up, if you decide you dont like the humbuckers you could always plug it and go back to p90s although a costly endeavour.

on the other hand, p90 customs are way more badass than humbucker ones.

    I say do it.

Guys, I don't think he'd even consider it if not for: "I love my headstock repaired, beat to hell, refretted, missing parts 56 BlackBeauty."

I think if I owned the same guitar, (repaired etc survivor) & couldn't get a P90 to do what I wanted/needed I'd put a humbucker in as well.
I had a Les Paul with P90's ,& it definitely needed a ballsier (that even a fkn' word ?) bridge pickup...

IF, it was to happen, I'd probably:

Go with a set of aged gold Nailbombs.

    Sell the pickguard.
    Sell the staple.

Keep the P90 for future endeavors someplace else.

    IF.

People who butcher P90 guitars deserve the death penalty.

The impression I get is that you want to full humbucker it up, but it looks to me that you want some kind of approval or help with deciding.
I'd say follow your feelings on this one, not reason. Especially since you said you'd never sell it.

Honestly I'm torn because I'm usually against such ideas.

Pretty sure old Lester himself did just that with his Black Beauty! Talk about sacrilege and ruining a rare guitar, he butchered Black Beauty #1!!!! :wow::wtf:
But he didn't stop with the bath tub route, oh no, not old Lester! That heathen continued his slide into infamy by drilling more holes and mounting weird sh!t like mic sockets and stuff all over it! Looked like it came off the set of 'My Favorite Martian' by the time he was done.

The thing is, he too, was a tone chaser in search of what he wanted his guitar to sound like.

Only difference with him is his fearlessness matched his vision. He had the courage to try something new and take a chance...

Yes, ballsier is a word! :headbanger:
And sometimes you do need that.

Hell, I'd put 2 Super Distortions in it to piss everyone off!

Seems like the first three words give you your answer. Let it be. Unless you want to change it, then change it!
    Hope that's helpful!

I'm going to look into the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop..

I'm hearing they'll make me a JB that'll fit in a p90 rout, it's not my favorite pickup in the world, but it'll probably do the job.

Why not ask Bare Knuckle if they can make the one you're after in a P90 rout Johnny?

Won't hurt to shoot them an Email.

    Cheers, Rudi.
