SUPER Happy NGD!!!!! This is my first Gibson and I'm giddy. I've had a few Epi LP's but nothing compares to this baby. Of course I am biased but this is the best looking, best playing, best sounding guitar ever!!! I wasn't looking for a new git this year and had just committed myself to playing the ones I had better. I was just browsing the classifieds to look at pics of cool guitars and saw this baby. For some reason, it just jumped out at me and spoke to me, so of course I had to buy it. Thanks to Jon (Freebyrd69) for letting me test drive it before I bought it, and he gave me an outstanding price. I almost feel guilty for stealing this from him. Almost. I love, love the dirty lemon color and the lighter back. Most have the dark back, which I like, but I prefer the lighter color of this one. The front looks even better in person, flamey from some angles, some woodgrain and more plain from others. Not sure about the pickguard yet, staying on for now but it sucks so much tone it may have to go at some point. It plays really well. I don't like thick necks, I prefer them thin with small shoulders. The neck on this isn't the thinnest I've every played, and isn't the thickest. It's just an in-between and very comfortable. Nice round profile, shoulders are comfy. And the sound out of the custombuckers is outstanding. Cleans are crisp, dirty is sooooo crunchy, yet both still maintain the dynamics and clarity you want. It's not the lightest guitar I own, after about a 2-1/2 hour practice the other night I started to get LP back pain, but it's not so heavy that it won't be my main gig guitar. Just need to get used to it. Some strap locks, a string change, and it's good to go. I haven't had time to take new pics yet, but I stole these from Jon's original classified ad. They are good pics. I will try to update with some of my own later.
