Hey guys, been a while. I hope everyone is doing well.

I have a colour question; I'm looking into buying another Les Paul (it was inevitable!!) and have found this guitar for a pretty solid deal. It's a bit of a sketchy situation and the guitar looks legit to my eyes (it has been re-fretted), but it's being marketed as an R8 for a pretty damn good price. Even if it is not an R8, the price is even very good as a price for a Standard/Traditional. I am still waiting for a photo of the headstock to verify what model it is.

Anyways, I'm not sure how I feel about this colour, but the price is skewing my opinion a bit... does this qualify as a "clown burst"? I am loving all the appointments but the colour irks me slightly. What are your opinions? Cheers :dude:

I see what you mean. Very little burst around the lower bout of the guitar. To me one of the enjoyable things about guitars is the aesthetics. If I can't bond with the look of the guitar I'm not completely happy. Of course the MOST important thing about a guitar is how it sounds and plays, that goes without saying. But if I don't enjoy the way a guitar looks I just can't completely bond with it.

But that's just me, I'm sure others would disagree. I'm also sure some others would agree. If your like me I would think long and hard about buying that LP. I think that if I were in the market for a new LPlike you are, and I saw that one, I would NOT want to go and play it...

...for fear it might play and sound great!

First of all, no one would call that a clown burst. But who cares, besides you? If you like it, that's all that matters. I wouldn't automatically reject a garish burst. If I found one for the right price and it sounded good, I would buy it and rock it.

I see what you might be concerned about-- it's not the smoothest burst transition. But again, who cares besides you?

I'm not an expert on R8s but it has an ABR bridge, so that's a good sign.
As far as the color, I can tell the image has a yellow cast to it so I color corrected it to what is probably a little closer o the real finish.
    Definitely NOT a clown-burst.

I like it. And as others have already said, not a clown Burst.

If the price is as good as you say I'd definitely give it a chance. At least play it so you know.
