    Hello Guys,

A few weeks back i got a set of these for a very good value. and they are awesome. I have a Greco EG59 and replaced the screamin 82 with these and so far, one of the best vintage sounds i have heard.

Anyone else who owns these? Just give me a high five if you guys still use these in your guitars.

    cheers

Congrats on your set! Duncan makes some fine repro PAFs.

If you are talking about the first Bonamassa set modeled after Magellan, I use the bridge pup as a neck pup in my 335 and it sounds perfect there. However, as a bridge pickup, it is too thin for my tastes. If you swap in a fully charged, short A5 magnet in the bridge pup, then you have something really cool.

As for the neck, I never cared for it. I thought it was too weak and not clear enough for my tastes but, I bet it would wake up with a magnet swap too.

For my ears, I think the Skinnerburst set is the shiznit. I have had that set in my #1 LP since they were first released and I have no plans to replace them. I would like to hear more about the Amos set too.

The set i have is the 1959 limited number set something, don't know what you mean by the Magellen.. For me it is the perfect set for this guitar. Soft, round, clear and angry when needed, all just with playing dynamics..

The Ox4 with Alnico 2 in my #1 Tokai, and this Set of SDJB in my #2 Greco have totally changed my playing, i am now more aware of how much touch dynamics gives feel to playing.

PS: EDIT: I did a search ad found what it means: Magellan

Yes, I would characterize them as that. My fingers just could never get the "angry" out of them.

I found the same thing on the neck pickup, just too weak. When I got to see Joe live last year, the Amos sound was not to my liking at all... it was the only guitar (out of MANY) that was really 'blah' for me.

But they didn't help. Maybe I need an Armani suit? :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

I ordered a set of AMOS PUs, figured I'd give em a whirl. Hopefully I don't need to be sized for a suit ;)

I'm still very happy with them. With and without the suit.
