I've had Telecasters that weighed more...
That is really beautiful...and the weight. Oh my!
Gut shot... One of the cleanest control cavities I've seen.
I was no great fan of the Antique Burst (always looked a bit anaemic to me) but that's a good looking Lester!
Now, given your previous track-record, is this thing going to get modded plastics (pokerchip? pickguard?) and, dare I ask, how long will it last until you flip it for something else...?!
Seriously though, it sounds like a genuinely great guitar! The colours may not have appealed to me but the specs of the '17 Trad T always seemed spot-on.
HNGD -- enjoy...!!
Nice guitar. And personally, I think that's a really good weight. I don't really like the really, truly heavyweights (though I don't min them much) but I definitely do like a LP that has enough mass to provide a really solid platform for picking and fretting. I positively like it when the guitar hangs steady, and doesn't whip around every time you burp. Great deal!
Ha! You know me too well. I'll be hanging in to this one for a while. I think she'll stay mostly stock... Unless I can find a NOS set of TonePros nickel tuners with the proper cream colored buttons. Not super fond of these snot grab Gibson Deluxe units... Although they work just fine.
I am generally not an Antique Burst fan either, but that is the absolute best looking one I’ve ever seen. Some look really terrible... clearly some (like yours) can look really great too!
Love the weight too. I’m a fan of lighter weight LPs and yours hits a great sweet spot. Congrats!!!
I use to be the same way about the snot colors one that I would change out the kidney beans for the Deluxes. (Except for my BFG I left the kidney's beans.) That was up until I got my '17 Trad Pro and they have the metal locking tuners. I think I might go that route now..
Very nice, Jstarr. Congrats!
That thing is BEAUTIFUL
This is closer to what it looks like in person:
You do know that you can post here anytime you want, right? You don't have to buy a new guitar. Hell, you don't even have to own a Les Paul.
Nah, you were never gone, you only thought you were...
Yep, that’s a nice-looking axe!
Most of these I have seen seem to be raw maple in the centre and a vague touch of golden yellow around the outside. The combination of part-coloured / part-natural just didn’t quite work, giving the overall impression of nothing so much as soggy pastry on an under-baked pie crust! The name was also poorly chosen: the one thing this ‘burst absolutely didn’t look was “antique” or aged — if anything, they looked far too modern.
I think the reason that this one looks so much better is that it has a much more balanced colouring; yes, it’s a little paler towards the centre but the effect is a gentle golden glow and doesn’t look anything like as aneamic and under-cooked as most Antique Bursts.
Awesome! Looks gorgeous
