After some final sanding up to 320 grit, was onto the first coats of lacquer, to use as a sealer coat. Ive never been one to use vinyl sealer first, but I know it's common practice.

Next was yellow lacquer color coat.

Onto the burst. Customer wanted me to match a Gustavasson he'd seen an loved.

Some darker amber coats started to pull and tie it all together nicely

The New dry transfer decals from Imagetransfers.com came out killer. Was able to perfectly match VERY popular Gold ;)

That's about where I'm at as of today. Got the last coat of lacquer on about a week ago, and will give it another 1-2 weeks of drying. Luckily Colorado has extreme low humidity, and we still have plenty of dry heat, so drying tends to go QUICK.

    Very nice.

That brownish colour of the burst - was that just the amber over the initial red outer or was there any UV involved.

Thanks! The brownish color you see, was a mostly brown lacquer sprayed as the burst, that had tiny bit of red mixed in. Probably 85/15. Then amber over everything.

Is that difference in neck/body color just from the wood alone? Is there color on there or just the clear sealer coat?

    Great looking build!

What sort of tuners are you using? Looks like a lot of wood between the tuner holes and edge of the headstock on the treble side.

Thanks man! As far as the engine stand, got the idea from my buddy Doug Kauer. Works amazingly. Having a level surface to spray on has helped finishes lay down Much smoother.

Yah the color contrast you see is just the two dif woods. Old growth sinker Honduran neck, and the Spanish body. Those are just lacquer sealer coats. I considered leaving the contrast, which would've look cool. But decided a consistent color between the two kept with the "inspired" look better.

I'm using Kluson Supremes, vintage style. With the way I place my tuner holes, there is less angle after the nut to the tuner, so yes, the buttons tend to be a tad closer to the headstock. Luckily though, doesn't make grabbing the tuning peg any more difficult, just a slightly dif look. Which I'm ok with.

Well do to a finish error, and the customer not being completely happy with the first burst, i went ahead and redid. And luckily, second one was even better. Just had me match a pic of a burst he liked, and I feel like it was pretty close!

This was halfway thru assembly, and all buffed out -
