We are spending our free time on a Les Paul message board. My answer is yes, the price will be paid.

Personally have not heard anything about the 2015 Reissues or Custom Shop models. Usually there are some transitional reissues out by now. Not sure if the pricing on CC #30 is any indication.

Personally if I ever buy another Gibson Reissue it will be used.

I'm seriously thinking of looking into small builders.

at that point we have all turned into sheep....Baa.

And I drink WAYYY too much Kool Aid anyway....

Yes , they are that crazy , 'cause there are those who will pay the price . The Top 1% has more $$$ than ever . HJ is looking at those #'s and sees $$$ signs. Plus, Gibson was never "cheap" .

If your selling used , it means prices will go up also . Sooooo , Me likey

    Thanks, Gibson :thumb:

    Nope , I won't be buying any more LP's .

    The rumour I heard was:

Price increase in the $700 - $1,000 range.
Fewer R9s going to be made.
R8 prices to match R9 prices.

Very close to what I have been hearing also. And that price increase will be the amount at dealer cost not retail. Well less than 1000 R9's to be made with less than half to stay in the US.

Why make so few R9's? Do they think by making less regular R9's will make people buy more artist and CC models at super inflated high prices? Not sure how many will pay R9 prices for a R8 either.

Gibson can charge whatever they want. I'm sure we can all name several people who pay whatever the price is.

I'm mildly curious to see what Gibson does. We'll see whose predictions come closest.

I see your point. But reducing your market to just "several people" tells a lot about their industrial strategy....

They can afford too take the chance after the crazy amount of riessues they pumped out the last 2 years... and yes some will still buy with Donna and Nicky on the way, gotta let the dealers unload the old stock before the next round of 60ths start... gives em a chance to stock pile wood for next newest updated.

I'm happy with my luthier build, and my HM as well as a few 90'sRI's:) I doubt I'll be buying into any of the new B*ll Sh*t:cool: the used market should be nice and saturated so I doubt prices will swing up too fast, thats where I'll be looking if I got the urge for a monster top HM:D

We saw it befor with the '99 40ths, huge #'s for then.. then backed off for 00 01 02 then the "new" changes huge #'s for 03 04 then 50th R8 50th R9 artist runs CC's ect then '11 12 drop off a bit 2 peice board ect ect, then new changes back up over 3k R9's... we should be mapping this out like the friggen TSX r something!

I suspect that (as usual) those willing to pay any price for a new guitar will pay whatever ... there are not that many, but enough to at least test the market.

Then sales will flatten in a familiar pattern, i.e. popular guitars remain high, unpopular ones go down ... it will be interesting to which way the bell curve leans, yeah? Then, the less popular "bargain" guitars will get snapped up ... business as usual.

This is the Historic/Reissue forum, so whether we can afford the new prices or not, we will continue to lust for guitars with the mid-to-high 4-digit price tags, and be thrilled to find something for less than 3 grand! :)

Honestly, I'm not that unhappy about any price increase that keeps Gibson and the Custom Shop made in the USA. 1) I like my birth-nation, and 2) I won't support a communist regime.

Just an opinion about a not-yet-confirmed rumor.
