Hi all. I've heard a lot of good things about agile guitars, but I was wondering how the other brands at Rondo (Douglas, Sx, etc.) are like in terms of quality. Are they good like the Agiles, or should I beware?

I have a Douglas Halo and I like it. But, when you first get it, its not that great. A good setup will fix that problem quite easily.

I aztually have new Alpha pots, Orange drop caps, and Gibson 490 Pups in mine and this thing just screams! If you want something cheap that is of good quality, go for it. Im looking into a Douglas Fulcrum, myself.

I have an SX bass and it's good bang for the buck. I have a friend who gigs regularly with his SX basses. I also bought a Douglas acoustic for a beater. Again, good value for the money but don't confuse these with high quality instruments. They are far from it.

As with everything else, you get what you pay for.

SX Tele here (STL50) and with a bit of tweaking and playing around I'd say it's probably about general Squier quality. Not exactly Keef's guitar of choice, but then it was only $89

In my experience it's a hit or miss. I had a STL50 and it was a great guitar. Then I purchased a 3/4 scale strat style for my son and the frets sucked on it.

Thanks all. So, the general consensus is that, after a good setup, they play pretty good. think I'll have to check one out (after I get a dauntless!:fingersx:)

I guess I'll restrict my comment to SX models, then.

lol i doubt he will, but for what its worth when he visited, he played my SX and was actually impressed with it in many ways... pups, build quality and playability.

I have two SX GG7 archtops. The first one I got was pretty much good without a setup. The second is going to need some fretwork to take care of some sharp edges. They sound very good though, and play nicely. The first one I got had an Epiphone labeled pickup in it (replaced with a TV Jones SuperTron).

I have a white sx sst and all i kept stock were the neck, frets and body.
i cut a new bone nut, wired in new"hot gold" lace sensors, replaced the bridge with a wilkinson vintage. put in a cts volume pot, a modded tbx tone control, blender pot, and new hip shot tuners. my guitar luthier friends can not believe what a great guitar it turned out to be, and have ordered a couple themselves. the bodys and necks are great (alder and maple with jumbo frets) but the tuners, nut, bridge and electronics are not the best(but they are not that terrible). but what a great platform to do modifications on. it plays and sounds better than my 1600 dollar strat for about 350 total investment body and neck included):naughty:

Hi All: brand new to the forum. I bought an Agile 3100 LP 2 Years ago from Rondo and the love affair began. My Agile tiger maple top 3100 arrived in perfect condition and playability. One if my best friends is in the most famous classic rock bands of all time - not allowed to use his name due to endorsements-played it and pronounced the neck better than his vintage LP gold top. For and finish beyond unbelievable for the price. Intonation perfect out of the box. I replaced the pups because the stock ones were too thin. Aside from that, what a steal! On my 7th Rondo instrument. No affiliation with Rondo whatsoever. Key to Rondo is you'll get great wood, great neck, etc. for crazy low money. Another super bargain... The SX Burtha Ae bass.... I played it acoustically next to a Martin and a Breedlove. Martin is obviously better wood and 'fatter' but lacking in top end character... Breedlove was less chunky wood but great character... Burtha hung with them both at fraction of a price. Also P style bass for $119(!!!) hangs with any fender I've recorded. This is an amazing company. You're either spot on or 1-200 $ away (pickups) to a world class guitar or bass.
