All I know is........from the time I got my first taste of rock music as a kid, I wanted a Marshall. Sure, I have many amps now but the THRILL and FEELING of lusting over and finally buying a MARSHALL was like none other. The mystique and the "bad-ass-ness" of them were just that good.

    Rest in peace Mr. Jim.

Heard this news late last night, sooo sad. I had the pleasure of meeting Jim back in 96', I was 11 and went to see him opening a music shop in Nottingham. Got his autograph and chatted with him for some time... such a nice guy and a real legend. Nothing will ever beat the sound of a Marshall amp IMO... I've had many others come and go, but will never sell my Marshalls.
    R.I.P Jim

apparently, back in the early days, Mr Marshall used to pitch in on the assembly line when needed

if he worked on something, he would sign–off the product just like the rest of his employees

to think, i once had a basket weave 1960B signed by The Man himself on the inside of the cabinet

at the time, i thought: that's cool, and promptly forgot about its significance until many years later...

A true giant in the business, most of the music I like from the late '60s and '70s was pumped through his gear, and was AWESOME, RIP Jim, you will be surely missed. Damn shame it happened on the company's 50th too, a really sad he never saw that.

The sad part about our current time is all the founding fathers are vanishing into history and so many of today's youth won't really know anything about them. Sad.
