    Lovely collection.

I saw a Rapier brand plane last week at one flea market (in Salo, about 50km from here), but I didn't buy it.
It was about the size of #4, but it was really heavy. It had kind of 50's vibe in it, bulky and rounded.

Now I'm having regrets, but I just can't justify to drive into another city and back for one old plane that I don't know much about.

It was possibly a Rapier 400, like this:

Cool - Rapier planes sound interesting. Apparently, they can be tuned up well, but I've never had one in my hands. They're not so popular with collectors, which means they might be decent bargains.

If it was really heavy, it might have been their 450. Don't know...:hmm:

I was going to say the same thing! British Racing Green makes it a must-buy.

I've read that some planes are made from steel, not cast iron & would weigh much more than the ones we are used too..

Thanks Banaby and Poro for this info. I have an old Stanley No 4 1/2 made in England, that was a rusted mess. After watching your video and Paul Sellers I brought my plane back to life.
